I was the same way, but after getting the chance to play a tad of 3S on GGPO, and just able to play around with the entire cast (along with watching videos of them), I found that Chun-Li is more my style. I love a grapple game, but I also love to play a “POKEPOKEPOKEPOKEPOKEPOKE!” game.
Though if Capcom ever were to do an update to 3rd Strike and they–for whatever stupid reason–included T. Hawk, I’d be all over that.
Well that but I think Hugo will hate a number of other characters. Anyone with decent keep-away stuff (Remy anybody?) will probably make it annoying for someone starting a grappler, whereas I think Chun-li’s more of an issue at a higher level.
BTW I doubt there’s going to be a million Chun’s on PSN/XBL, don’t underestimate the number of people who refuse to play top-tier.
That just means that when you do come across a Chun, they’re probably good.
Hugo has the most to worry about against Akuma and Ibuki, quite honestly. Remy and Chun next.
The reason Chun’s a twat to fight against is it’s impossible to get near her enough to throw, just like Remy. At least they stand still though. Akuma and Ibuki are all over the fucking place and you can’t do shit… Especially with Akuma, when you think you’ve got him, teleport GGs
Definitely a lot less than half. If an akuma tries to teleport, depending on the spacing Hugo can easily get a knockdown with cr.mk. You’re simply not going to see teleport that often from anyone with brains. If you have gigas stocked then lol to any Akuma who thinks they’re going to somehow space things out with teleport.
Ok. You can be as specific as you want. Hugo can poke fine from half screenish. Unless he’s basically breathing on you teleport is an awful idea. If he has gigas it’s basically suicide in every situation.
If you want to use Hugo you should use him. No character is ‘easy’. Some are just more friendly due to simple cancels and easy to understand timing. Using Hugo will most likely teach you a tremendous amount of patience and defense which will help you immensely no matter who you spend most of your time on.
