never played third strike before is it gonna take that long to get into?
Youâre going to be playing against people that have been on this for 12 years.
Youâre also going to be making a lot of mistakes, as one of the major criticisms of this game was that itâs the hardest of all the SF games to get into.
Iâve also never seen a Yipes, Neo, or Mixup case (Under a year of play and getting into Evo top 8) when it comes to this game.
Chances are: Yes, it will take you a bit. The upside to that: Understanding 3S and REALLY understanding the footsie game will get you SUPER FUCKING CLUTCH when you play everything else⌠Aka, 3S makes you overall, a better Capcom fighting game player.
EDIT: And the fact that vets will be good at parrying will tell you this: Youâll learn to poke MUCH better, since predictable pokes will be parried and punished.
[S]On another note, something I just thought ofâŚ[/S]
[S]The game uses the NETCODE ONLY of GGPO, or does it actually install a GGPO client?[/S]
[S]Meaning, if itâs on GGPO, can I play people that use Xbox as well? Or will it be GGPO, but limited to only PSN?[/S]
EDIT: Found out that to be false.
3S has a very steep learning curve. After that, it turns into S-Class cocaine, and you canât live without it.
Youâll be forced to block & not blink. Donât worry about parrying just yet. YOU CAN WIN WITHOUT IT. Learn basic and then advanced mixups & spacing first.
Iâll tell you to follow on this: Parrying, while important comes naturally after a while, even if you donât take time to practice specifically that. The only thing worth âpracticingâ in terms of parrying is full supers. No amount of practicing parrying will help get your anticipation and your clutch up.
i guess itâll take even longer for me to get used to 3S if i do end up using hugo
UhhâŚ
that dependsâŚ
Hugo is one of the only characters I can think of that you parry a lot more with than somebody like Ken or Elena or something⌠But, for some reason I find parrying with Hugo easier than other characters⌠dontâ know why, really.
Itâs def easier to red parry with bigger characters!
IMO Hugo isnât that bad of a character to learn with. For pretty much the entire cast vs Hugo, the battle plan is to keep your distance, but at a low level most players wonât realize that and will just attack Hugo relentlessly. Just be prepared to be patient. Hugo is a simple character just takes a lot of skill to win!
Hugo is one of the more simple characters to use in 3S, in my opinion(he was my original main). He has decent far-reaching pokes, not to mention 360s do a lot of damage. He gets progressively harder as your opponent gets better, but against scrubs that like to rush in you should be fine with just basics and blocking.
i am just a big fan of grapplers is why i plan to main hugo

came across this vid
Agreed.
Heâs not as technically difficult as a Necro or Twelve, and he has tools for many situations.
Just remember to powder your hands before you start mashing that MP.
Thatâs fine. I used to main nothing but grapplers: Zangief in ST/A2/SFEX, Potemkin in GG, Tizoc in MotW, etc. Hugo pretty much fits the mold, but he is also very versatile. Check out vids of YSB and Hayao; theyâre both considered the best Hugos despite having totally different styles from one another(YSB uses SA3, Hayao uses SA1).
Really Canât Wait to use Hugo Than(used to characters like zangief t.hawk iron tager)
than what?
Then i will dance and go all iron tager on everyone!
âthanâ is used when youâre comparing two or more things.
e.g. I would rather use Hugo than Akuma.
âthenâ is used in terms of time.
e.g. I canât wait to use Hugo, then.
or eve more correct:
âThen I canât wait to use Hugo.â
He means check your grammar.
i wasnât really paying attention i guess too hyped
Yeah, Hugo isnât too complex. You can do cute stuff like comboing 3 claps on a crouching opponent but you really only need to get your fundamentals down. I prefer SA1 obviously.
Also: Donât watch videos like this and try to copy. Youâll fail at it⌠Just learn footsies.

1:30 is sexy though.
