Nah man, im not saying someone who is 5-0 with sean should be ranked higher than someone who is 50-5 with chun. You should definitly base ranking predominantly on win-loss vs high ranked opponents. I was just suggesting a SLIGHT insentive in using lower tier characters.
Hypothetically speaking, i think (considering both players won and lost vs the exact same opponents) a 100-5 Sean player who only used Sean should be ranked slightly higher than a character who is 100-5 (vs the exact same players) using only chun.
They already said you can ban characters so if you donât like the top tiers or whatever you can make a room where theyâre banned. Iâm not certain if they said you could do that for any mode or no. They said you can for sure do it for tournament matches. That way if youâre not a big fan of the top tiers you can make your own room or find another room that bans certain characters. Otherwise 3S is a game of fighting the powerful with the powerful or with the decent to not so hot. I feel playing a lower tiered character in 3S helped me become better at fighting games in general because I always look at what you can do and not what you canât do. You can only win by knowing what you can do any way.
Picking a good character is part of the meta game of any fighting game either way. You shouldnât get more credit just because youâre nice with the fun guys. You should definitely get the same or similar credit but in the end youâre not making the best decision in order to win by picking lesser characters. If youâre going to a gun fight with a sword just make sure you swing that sword like Highlander. LOL.
I hope they allow you to ban characters for any mode because I donât want to be fighting Gill players in endless matches on the 23rd every other match. I need a room without that bullshit.
I would NOT want to ban any character except for Gill. Im all for the David vs Goliath matchup, and of course I wouldnât think something like that tier handicapping would ever happen. But obviously most people who play online ranked want to win above all else.
The thought= "Sean or Twelve look interestng"
The reality= "Wow these guys are awful, remind me to never pick them again"
The result= âWow I can link anything into chunâs SA2, just found my new mainâ
But thatâs cool, my Denjinâs going to crash that party all day.
i sure donât. picking gill in player matches is stupid, but i think most casual folk are more likely to ban regular characters than actually use gill. being able to ban whatever you donât like is a slippery slope, and nowadays it doesnât take much for a fighting game âplayerâ to give up against something that doesnât immediately appeal to them.
though i am curious to see how people are going to use those features. i wonder if people will read a tier list or watch a video online and just start banning stuff left and right.
Well I donât really wanna play with the randoms any way so I donât care what they do. Iâm just going to have people on my friends list that are good and play them. I did enough wasting my time playing JoeShmoe3825 on Xbox Live in CVS2 8 years ago. Now that Iâm a competitive player I can just make my own room, find good people, play with them. Fuck playing with the babies all day. Long as they play the game and like it thatâs all I care about.
why does everyone think people play with Chun Li? sure, you will come across a few. Some pros and very good players use her, but other than that, all the others donât pick her as they are too embarrassed to lose with her and/or just plain suck with her and/or use other characters.
same goes for Yun/Yang.
The majority of characters you will see online being used are KEN/AKUMA/RYU and SEAN (ok KIDDING on Sean), but yes, the three shotos will be out in full force as always. The other characters you will see every once in awhile.
and thanks for the vid⌠after watching it, Seth seems like a cool dude, and the fact he respects and plays with Oro really makes his cool factor sky rocket. Seems he respects 3S all around. and they actually used the correct term of âloin clothâ instead of calling it a fucking âthongâ. always pissed me off with dumbass kids said that (when they were being serious and dissing on them, instead of just joking around of course)
There are some of us 3rd Strike newbies who are planning on using the Chunster, win or lose. And I feel like its a damn near certainty that after a few trips around the online mode, a lot of the other newbies are going to start banning characters like Gill (whatever), Chun, Yun, and maybe even Ken. Others will probably ban the shotos. It should be interesting, but at least for a while, I have the feeling that when I try to enter player matches, Iâm going to get locked out quite a bit.
Granted, the hate will only fuel my Chun-Li fire. Iâm not going to use her because sheâs at the top of the food chain (it doesnât hurt), but because Iâve found a really good comfort level with her, and Iâm a bit of a Chun-Li fanboy anywaysâŚjust ask my phone.
