There are shortcuts in 3S. Hella shortcuts. Not for qcf inputs but for everything else there are. Also tsurugi is used outside of combos all the time. The only time it’s part of a combo is basically an SA2 combo.
Nothing makes me happier than [Back], Forward, [Back]+[Punch], Forward+Punch with Q.
yeah, i mean we all knew the 3s invitational tourney was gonna be bad a long time ago. the format + laggy monitors equals it probably wouldnt have been exciting no matter what.
hearing the crowd chant we want marvel was pretty depressing and disrespectful. oh well. congrats to fubar! he won a dope street fighter skateboard deck.
wanna skate dat deck
What monitors did they use for the 3SO exhibition? Why didn’t they just use VH236Hs?
Because that makes too much sense.
I don’t know about hella shortcuts but every time I get a tackle instead of forward grab, I get ready to kill someone
That’s not a shortcut at all. bmckay that’s just charge buffering.
360s, hcb, srk, 2xqcf, 720s all can be performed with shorter versions or different inputs from the ‘textbook’ input.
That’s my question as well. Why would they use decent monitors for AE, MK, Tekken, BB, then decide to use some random unproven monitor for 3S? It just sounds really sloppy to me.
you need to show me some of these elitist 3s stuff tho.
chances are I will play OE from time to time. I just need to know the basics. other than the rock/paper/scissor ken I play lool…
They should have shown this instead at EVO
Has anyone gotten any reviews of it playing online? If the core game is fine I don’t mind the HUD and new art but I haven’t seen any real review of how much an improvement it’ll have online over xbox 3s and ggpo 3s. If someone has info please post it up.
I know, but it’s something that isn’t quite the same in any game before or after it.
After watching some 3rd Strike videos, I started thinking about something…
Are throws hard to tech in this game in comparison to SF4? In most of the videos I saw, I really couldn’t tell when the guy was going to go for a throw or not, which is something I usually see in SF4. Honestly, I’ve always been okay at teching throws in SF4–never was really great at it. If the throws are tougher to see coming here, I think I’m going to get thrown a lot. Perhaps it’s just me watching videos and not having any real experience with the game yet.
Yeah you have quite a bit less time to react. You need to anticipate the throw. Throws are quite strong in 3S I would say and very important in part due to their speed and relative safety as long as you are in range. It’s really important to understand throws.
Turning that HUD shit off as soon as the game comes out. It made the game look quite tacky. I’d probably leave it on if I’m playing alone, but it’s pretty irrelevant and distracting otherwise. Capcom… Why you troll us on the move list selection. That would’ve been the coolest character select option… EVA… EV-UH… Here’s hoping for it’s popularity and potential to get back at all the SF4 players who enjoy the theory of “zoning.”
After watching the exhibition (that wasn’t that good, but better than me), I’ve decided that I like the new GUI. I remember that I got a quick couple heartbeats of hype when I saw it in action. Then I remembered that it’s just a GUI.
s/GUI/HUD
First match convinced me that I need to watch this all the way through. D:
99% sure you can’t change the hud. Also what exactly does ‘enjoy the theory of zoning’ even mean…? Zoning is in 3S all the same and you will get your shit rocked by plenty of people who can just zone you the fuck out.
Parry isn’t some magic bullet that beats fundamentals. Unless you play Makoto then you can just do whatever the fuck and win.
Ha yeh those Game Spot vids are definitely worth watching. Theres some great play to learn a few things from and a really shouty japanese guy in there just to add more fun to the mix. He gets really really shouty.
