I thought the invitational was alright, stuff like Makoto SAIII and stun gun Alex encourages people seeing 3s for the first time to be different, not just choose Ken SAIII, Chun SAII from moment 37#.
But for real, Makoto SAIII is so, so bad. Mike Z would have won matches by just not using his super.
What I meant is the only people who will be excited about seeing Sean Remy or Oro are people who play those characters. If Thanatos isnât playing 99% of the time Oro matches run long and drawn out compared to most 3s matches (and the only time Oro does big damage are from unblockables or tengu juggles which are pretty much the same move(s) over and over). Only time in recent memory I got excited during an Oro match was Coop Cup last year when Kokujin was screaming and stomping during every tengu stone hit
Besides doing machine gun lovâs can you think of anything Remy does that gets the crowd pumped?
Sean is just a joke. Lopsided matches, or matches where the players donât give a fuck if they win or not are less interesting, and thats the only thing youâd get out of a Sean match in an exhibition like this.
No offense to anyone who mains these characters. I think every 3s character has their place and I wouldnât have the game without them except for maybe 12.
The invitational was retarded. Aside from Sanchez trolling (and winning a money match against Amir on stage for $1), it was dead. I wouldnât be surprised if we didnât see 3S next year at EVO due to lack of hype. Oh, Lukaâs guitar was more hype than about 95% of the invitational. Just saying.
RENIC WAS RIGHT.
I can make that happen. Mostly because Iâd play that.
i donât know. i guess iâm so used to sf4âs boring matches that the characters you mention (with or without popular players using them) still seem interesting. they arenât as fast paced as other characters in the game but yes, i agree they have their place. although i think even 12 fits even though heâs so ass.
It should have been a 8/16 man single elim bracket. A round robin is boring because of how many times you see the same person in a row and it gets stale.
It should have had REAL PLAYERS who are still active and try to play in the game, other then Sanchez I did not see any of the other 4 players make an effort to practice for the game and it clearly showed in there performance. The venue had plenty of players that were far more qualified for the spots compared to them at the time.
We needed a house commentator for hype, I am not saying to get Rockefeller (though it would be awesome) but the audience didnât understand why the game requires knowledge. The delayed moves on wake up and reading the opponentâs didnât make sense to the people watching that donât play 3s. If we had a commentator on the mic to explain stuff like that people could have gotten more into it. They were just applauding over parries that werenât even that hard to do.
I am glad it at least happened but damn⌠EVO shafting 3s againâŚ
3s has never been the greatest game for hype. unless it was to see certain players face off. Justin vs daigo rematch would be hype cause of the players not cause chun vs ken is amazing.
Some of the matchups are just boring, and some of the characters are just boring. Also the backgrounds have always been terrible imo in 3s. Bland, dull colors with barely anything moving or happeningâŚwith background music that ranges from minimal (ryus, makotos) Annoying and abrassive hard rock shit (urien) tolerable lounge (Dudleys) Flat out annnoying house (Elenas). the music is catchy and memorable despite being tolerable to bad.
3s is a great game because of the sprites and the gameplay. I dont think it needs to be shoved back into the evolving scene that has mortal kombat, new darkstalkers, marvel, AE, tekkens. games in the works we dont knowâŚ
Its cult status nowâŚwith a means to keep it alive for a very long time. but it needs to stay away from official evo coverage. just like ST which is a great gameâŚtheres just no reason to bring these things back in official capacity ever again.
They put two players from Texas, certainly they werenât trying to have an entertaining exhibition. Might as well have just put on the action scenes from Terminator 1
I wouldâve bought this if I had my Xbox 360 or PS3 but those are both gone now and I just play on PC. If Capcom was smart they would have put 3rd Strike on PC released through Steam. Then again Capcom hasnât listened to the fans in a while so yeahâŚ
Considering how long people have been able to play 3S on their computers for free online(illegally I might add), Iâm not surprised that Capcom are reluctant to release it for PC. Shouldnât have sold those consoles~
there arent any short cuts and Tsurugi in 3s isnât used the same as it is in 4. You have to Be REALLY high in the air to use it so its not really used out side of combos. Of course EX tsurugi can be done closer to the ground so its better for that.
I love Terminator 1 as much as the next guy, but I gotta stand up for my boy Fubar. Both him and Hsien have qualified for SBO. To me thats the most legit qualification for such an exhibition. I know everyone is on the âinvite people who still play the gameâ tip, but Iâd have to side with putting up proven players instead of some no names. I doubt most the people that still post in the 3s section could keep up with out of practice Fubar as sad as it is to say. Most of us are playing catchup with 2007 FFA level of play lol
Iâm pretty sure you can do that motion and Tsurugi will still come out. 3S does have some leniency in its inputs after all.
Iâve said before that Fubar was solid, and I do agree that qualifications > love for the game, but I still think they could have had some better choicesâŚunless those other players didnât want to participate at all. ryan said that he never registered so I guess I could see that, but what about Renic?

EDIT: What the fuck, SRK? Let me edit my damn post right.
