Wait Muhammad Ali played on arcade? No wonder I never made it as a boxer, I spent all that time in the gym when I should have been playing in the arcade.
Even if OE is arcade perfect, itâs presentation is much different.
Plus we donât know if itâs CRT friendly.
About CPS3 thoughâŚI wish someone could figure out how to change the Asia version to the USA version.
This guy can revive dead carts into the Asian version. But most of you already know that the Asia version has missing sound effects.
If someone could hack the Asia version on the CD to be the USA version, everyone could have the USA version.
The CD has no copy protection, so burned CDs will work. Too bad you need a legit security cart for it to work, though.
Itâs a 360/PS3 game. I donât see how it wonât be CRT âfriendlyâ. The only thing unfriendly with some games on 360 is that they did not design the text in the game for such a low resolution so itâs difficult to read. Otherwise itâs mandatory for it to run fine on a CRT for 360. Iâve never had issues with any of my games aside from text being small.
What they mean is will there be a 4:3 mode designed for a 4:3 CRT, Iâm guessing. We know that there is a proper 4:3 mode for widescreen tvs, but we donât know if there is a non letterboxed screen filling 4:3 mode if you play it on an old tv/monitor.
That might be the case for PS3s. Iâm saying for 360 there is essentially 0 chance that it wonât be fine. Every game is built to also play on crt at 4:3, 99% sure it is a requirement for a 360 title.
3S was designed for CRTs. Its not as if its 3D or originally designed only for HDTVs because they didnt exist back then. I highly doubt they would release a remake of a game with graphics they have released previously on DC, PS2 and the old Xbox and not make it 4:3. The question should be whether its 4:3 friendly because of those challenge boxes you can get down the side of the screen and when the gameplay area is 4:3 itself. I think theyll have put some work around for that though and who really needs that through the fight anyway? Its just a distraction.
^Thatâs what I meant by CRT friendly.
Arcana Heart 3 has this problem. Even though it was designed for Arcade monitors that are 4:3, the game doesnât have an option to get rid of the side bars.
So when you play on a CRT, the side bars will always be present.
I guess the next best thing would be an option to enlarge or shrink the width and height. (Like the console version)
So even if thereâs no option to get rid of the side bars, you could just tweak the display settings so that theyâre out of the way.
Ahh so Neo G is the Director of the SF3 series as well as other titles and other roles in other titles. Heâll be at EVO with Niitsuma for MvC3 (Heâs the Battle Director for MvC3).
3SOE has the ability to get rid of those sidebars. Itâs been shown in a video by Derek to Gootecks. And yeah, 360 games are required to have direct support for 4:3. Xbox 360âs still ship with YRW (composite) cables, so 4:3 support is built-in. Hell, even MvC3 had native 4:3 support.
on ps3, mvc3 can only be played in widescreen. so if youâre on a 4:3, the game is always letterboxed (provided that you truthfully set your display settings). never tried it on xbox but itâs interesting if you can legitimately fill a 4:3 with the game. never knew about that.
