Oh yeah I agree, I guess I was being a bit flamebait with my posts. I’ve just been hit by SAII mixup into another SAII too many times. I’ll have a word with Capcom about patching out the SJC of SAII
I love alot of the ‘special’ in 3s, jab resets into supers, overheads into supers, kara throws etc. As long as there is a counter to it, just makes it more fun.
the reason i mentioned how long ive been playing fighters isnt to show you guys look i know what im talking about cause ive been playing for xxx years. it was to make a point to those that say theyve been playing ts for a very long time, congrats theres other people that have played the game as long and fighters in general longer. it doesnt mean one opinion is more important that the other, that was my whole point.
@bmckay, i agree with you for only a part though. q can do that much damage? well, chun with a full stick of butta can jump in, hard attack, sa2, air reset, dash in your back or overhead, sa2 again and finish you off. whats q got on that? nothing. plus chuns normals >? q’s by far. chuns speed and everything else, her cr. MK hitconrfims are soo easy its not even funny. yun can take over half your bar, get his own super bar back over half of it before as you stand up. next hitconfirm he does is into another geneijin and your dead.
i agree with you every characters has the means to win, but the balance in this game ios worse or as bad as vanilla 4. chun and yun are at least on vanilla sagat/ae yun level, but thats cool i guess.
I think the problem wasnt that you were saying how long youd been playing its that you said none of us had played half as long as you have which is just a baseless accusation and shows considerable disrespect.
With regards to your suggestions of rebalancing, we have been over this in about half of this thread. I also didnt really agree with your suggestions because firstly its not just a case of moving a hit box and youre sorted, its not that easy because everything has to work with everything else.
I also didnt agree with your idea about releasing the game with a rebalanced option as it would divide the player base in 2. You should NEVER split the player base. Capcom of all companies will have learnt their lesson on this because they released Lost Planet and then they released the Special Edition of the same game as a totally seperate game so people with the upgraded version couldnt play the original players so they basically split the player base over 2 discs using basically the same material. AE works because you can transition between the 2 very easily but also the key part is that its released much later after launch as an upgrade and not put out straight from launch.
So to sum it up, if you have 2 versions of the game from launch then you’ll be cutting the player base in 2 at the start and dividing the community. Theyre better waiting for people to play it and if theres enough demand then release a revised version as a paid DLC upgrade like AE was. 1st focus should always be to make sure the community is kept together as much as possible and then 2nd to fix issues and then way down the timeline the 3rd thing to do is to upgrade it if enough people are asking for it so then the community will transition together.
Consider that the best players don’t complain and ask for changes to be made. They learn the game as is and overcome shit to be better. That doesn’t mean things aren’t out of whack balance wise. It just means if you let that shit go and take it as it is, you can get over it.
The game is too much fun to whine about Chun and Yun all day everyday.
Vanilla SFIV was admittedly very balanced compared to this game even but again balance isn’t why us old men playing fighting games. I prefer games where you actually get rewarded for the time you invest in it and putting people in bad situations actually means something instead of that shitty block string shitty throw fest that is SFIV. We hope that a lot of the newer people excited to take on the game are also ready to take on the challenge of fighting the big boys and bring their level of play to the highest level possible. Instead of being able to play lazier because Ono wants to water down strong characters.
Besides…what makes this game better than SFIV is your new ass isn’t going to be able to get online and beat me by picking up Chun or Yun for 30 minutes. You’ll have to spend at least a year to hopefully be able to beat my Ibuki with any sort of consistency and probably even my Alex. Any Chun that’s going to run up on the internet and practice c.MK hit confirms for 20 minutes and think they got what it takes…they’re not going to be playing very often in big lobbies. Higher level Oros, Ryus and Uriens will be tossing them around like a 2 dollar whore. They’ve fought against a level of Yun and Chun where anything but that high level of play will be nothing but a toy to play with for them.
You say you’re a veteran player but you speak like a typical balance oriented Ono 09er instead of a hardened tournament veteran. If you think Vanilla SFIV had bad balance it’s obvious you spent very little time in the tournament scene in the last 5 to 10 years.
Vanilla Sagat and AE Yun would get scraped by 3S Chun/Yun. AE Yun is the best character but it just shows you how weak the characters are in SFIV when 3S Yun is a complete other monster compared to him. Blame Ono for making sure all the rest of the cast has shitty tools and damage for dealing with AE Yun.
yea i didnt see it before, maybe i see it more clearly now but 3s as it is really is fine. i would go back and forth and say it needed balancing in the past but that just retards the game. i think what made me see that balancing wasnt the answer was by seeing what they did in sf4. the characters arent as interesting tool wise cus they needed a way to balance them out. if they had too many options it would be harder to balance them. with 3s there are more ways to skin a cat throughout when compared to sf4 but they still managed to make it playable. and with a way better understanding, low tier can win against top u just need to put alot more effort in. but that effort is what makes it deep in the first place. that effort is what makes people come back for more. i didnt see that before, now i dont know more about the game its like u know more of what you dont know… its weird.
Yeah if they put Remy in SFIV he would be hella watered down compared to 3S Remy and 3S Remy is a definite low mid in this game. 3S Ibuki poops all over SFIV Ibuki in power.
Personally, I blame DLC. Patches are almost mandatory in the eyes of post SF4 players, and because of it, everything is in flux and nothing is permanent.
Which honestly makes me skeptical to hop into new games because I’ll get comfortable, then whoops, people complaining & or being over exaggerative about characters tools & CAPCOM or other developers do unnecessary changes to the game making it a more terrible experience.
True dat. Twelve is a pain as well, but not as much. Ibuki just rapes Q, though. And Hugo! I even think Remy vs Hugo is even because Hugo’s limbs can stop Remy from doing booms. I also believe that Q does good against Remy.
Twelve’s annoying, but it’s not a terrible matchup. I’d say it’s even, maybe in Q’s favor if he knows the match. Twelve’s just stupid though. Pft~
Ibuki is rough too, yeah. It’s like playing against Akuma Lite. I’ve said this a lot before, but she just owns big characters in this game. Her jumping mixups alone can frustrate them, and she’s just faster in general. Luckily she takes damage really bad though.
Q vs Remy is in Remy’s favor, 6-4. Remy doesn’t do a lot of damage, but he doesn’t have to. Chipping away at Q’s health while annoying him from a distance is good enough for him to win the match. Q can really hurt Remy though, it’s just a grind for that creamy nouget…kinda like Dudley vs Chun.
