Street Fighter 3rd strike: Online edition

Minzy from Korean girl group 2NE1 <3

Hey, d3v get in contact with Gaijinblaze, he mentioned he was keeping a file of the differences earlier in the thread.

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I didn’t feel like searching through 64 pages.

This thread is a petition to get 3S Online Edition released on PC. Capcom has said a PC release could happen but isn’t currently in the works. I’d bet Capcom is waiting to see how Arcade Edition sells on PC. Any of you who want to be able to play 3rd Strike OE on your computer should sign that thread.

Just put that in your sig already, Pherai. (how do I kill this stupid smiley)

EyePawd, from what I understand you took a poke at my lack of knowledge of the community and you are right. I’m not fortunate enough to have an established communities like you have in the US, the biggest fg community in my country is for Tekken and even they are little underground group. The thing that got me into fighting games in the first place was game emulation.
So yes, most of my touches with community are based on online, but god forgive me for liking the fg genre and 3S in particular and what I see from the US community (streams and these forums).

EyePawd, No…I’m just right.

SF(4), a blackmark? You bet.
Clearly the success vs quality example I gave went right over your head.

If he’s in any way responsible for 4, he is a big issue.

Thanks for admitting my opinion is pure. Your ā€œproofā€ that she is a good character is because she’s used in an UDON manga, and requested for MVC3 (also a major malfunction)? No, they can’t be given merit, because they are cheesy, or a half-baked re-incarnation of a previous character. I forgot to mention that ā€œgemā€ Juri…

Yes, I am what’s wrong with the Fighting Game Community. I point out the obvious problems with bad games and praise the good ones. There is not one good thing you can say about the additions that were made to the SF Series during the SF4 Reign of terror other than they made a lot of money.

Yes Capcom got my money from the original SF4, then Gamestop got my disc for a whopping $1 when SSF4 came out… Yeah I can totally see why I should be thankful for what I got.

Yes they do patches, etc. If there is a problem, it should get fixed, it’s called correcting your mistakes- It’s not a privilege, it’s a standard of business.

I’m not thankful for anyone who takes pride in 4 and doesn’t seem to take much pride in 3. Obviously he is in love with his own involvement with 4 and can’t accept that 3 is superior in every way.
The point I want to make once and for all is that 3S gets a 10/10 for feel, originality, depth, and fun. 4 gets the lowest marks I can give in all of these categories, so again, not thankful, not impressed.

When you curse, you automatically lose the argument because it proves that you, like SF4 have no originality, style, or substance. Back of the line Scrub Jr.

haha nice

wish it came out this month lol cause by the time it comes out summer holidays will be other and i will be in my last year of school :frowning:

You talked about FG community, you’re the perfect example of why it is that much divided.
"My game game is better, yours is crap, go to hell you players and producer and whatever has SF4 written on his shirt."
You’re just another useless hater just as some other big names against 3S.
Why don’t you shut up about it if you don’t like it, instead of saying biased and useless assessment?

See the thing is, the same people that made this community are the people advocating that kinda thought. Until they change their minds or until they get out of the community and leave it to someone else, we are going to have this. So we might as well decide right now which game is better and why.

3s.

Why? because you can’t just memorize all the situations and push buttons,

If you want to go down that road can you make another thread?

Reply from Sven when I asked if I could submit a list of things we find different from the arcade version.

So come on with that list. (already PMed Gaijinblaze, but if anyone has anything else, it would be appreciated).

Oh great. Another one of these ā€œmy game is best of all, fuck anyone who disagreesā€ types who just loves to shove their so called ā€œopinionā€ down every thread they see. Newsflash, no FG is perfect it’s okay to like a game and acknowledge its flaws at the same time. That said, this shit is way off topic. If you’re gonna continue down this road, leave this thread and go make your own and don’t bother us mature, sensible folk.

srk is becoming gamefaqs…

srk threads have never, I repeat, never been on topic. What do you intend do with my srk once you’ve raped it in it’s ass and taken what little it has left? Are you gonna spit on it afterwards and not share your skittles? Are you going to ask it to walk by you so you can check that ass and then not even compliment? Are you going to call it sweet, sweet names and then not even give it that pussy? Do you intend on marrying this sweet child of mine and not even have the decency to look her in the eye while you slap her like the bitch she is?

WELL?!?!?!

Also, I can’t wait for 3rd strike online to come out. I have been playing a lot of GGPO lately, and although I’m getting used to it, I hope that the new version isn’t like this one. They still teleport, I’ve just improved on my mashing during situations I am not entirely aware of.

Hataktaktouken.

Off topic but just a few things I will say about SF4. It brought us great replay functionality and follow features with input display. It brought titles and emblems to unlock so you could express yourself and your character through your online identity, something which Call Of Duty then decided to use and some people get obsessed over so clearly they made a good decision there. They brought back the 2D plane, graphics doesnt really affect that so you can cry all you want about 2.5D but the gameplay is 2D and thats the important thing. It brought us trials to help people get good at the game which is important because it helps new players and loyal fans who have kids and full time jobs who dont have time to sit in training for hours and just want to play SF like the old days. Its successfully brought loyal, hardcore and new players together. In turn that has rejuvenated the community to the point that games like Mortal Kombat and BlazBlue were possible and the loyal and hardcore fans get games like MvC2 and 3SOE back and those games can also see a new generation of players as the new players explore the genre further. Without SF4 we may never have seen 3S again and without it we wouldnt have had such a vibrant genre or community.

So, if you dont like it then dont play it but dont start slating Capcom for their efforts to revive one of the longest running and greatest computer game franchises to have ever existed or for helping kickstart the genre again which the community needed to happen if it was ever going to really grow again fully. After a long time of seemingly being out of touch, Capcom actually made the right decisions with SF4. I love 3S, I played SF since the beginning but 3S was exactly what I wanted from a fighting game for so long. So sure 3S is a great game but you cannot ever say that SF4 has not done at least as much for the genre or franchise as 3S.

I could go on all day about what SF4 has done for fighting games just as I could go on all day about Battle Fantasia helping Capcom realise the direction SF needed to go in to stop it just fading away to becoming just another piece of gaming history left behind. This thread is all about 3rd Strike though so please for your own sake stop just raging about a different game. Im here for 3S, nothing else matters here.

ShinkuuHadouken, I think he just called you gay, bro.

im pretty sure it should be well known that sf4 is what brought the fighting game community back onto the stage ish

i’ll post it here so i can get any feedback if something is incorrect.

ERRORS:

-2P Aegis colour is purple instead of blue
-Ryu’s duffel bag doesn’t fall over when a character is knocked down nearby (credit to Triplejjj)
-pause menu -> help & options -> settings -> widest view option is spelled ā€œstrechedā€
-super finish combo message for 1P has number of hits off-screen (2P needs confirmation; H in finish might be cut off too)
-single player arcade mode: Makoto’s stage called ā€œA Road In Kyoto, 5:51 PMā€ - should be ā€œThe Dojo of Rindo-Kan, 6:15 AMā€ (credit to besaidblitzer on Youtube)
-single player arcade mode: Sean’s stage called ā€œSantos Harbor, 4:48 PMā€ - should be 11:18 AM
-single player arcade mode: Yun’s stage called ā€œShopping District, 10:22 PMā€ - should be 7:45 PM

CHANGED DESIGN CHOICES/FORMATTING (POSSIBLY DELIBERATE):

-white outline of FIGHT text does not zoom out into the banner, flashing of banner occurs only once and at the wrong time (doesn’t coincide with the announcer’s voice sample); altogether a notable downgrade
-1P health bar character portrait facing left (in fighting games usually each side faces the center)
-ā€œPRESS 1P/2P STARTā€ not centered over health bar

yeah. i’m an asshole. i know. lol.

Who cares about that shit when the in-game portraits are stills, and not color-coded.

For the record, porting code that ran on an arcade board 12 years ago to two modern consoles isn’t easy. Plus, they had to go back and fix those game-breaking glitches (game crashing when finishing with Ken’s forward throw, or whatever that was), so they clearly had to do some substantial tweaks to the code.

People who were expecting a literal arcade port don’t understand how coding works. I’d say if they can get it 99% arcade perfect, that would be amazing and it would take a seriously dedicated producer and team of coders to get it anywhere close to that.

It’s news to me that Seth Killian didn’t like 3rd Strike. IMO, you could never tell from his interviews on the game. I’d say he’s doing a really good job masking his dislike, if it’s true. As far as I’m concerned, he’s an excellent person to be involved in the growth of fighting games.

Also, protip to the guy who was hating on SF4 earlier in this thread: there are thousands of hardcore SF players who hate 3rd Strike, despite it being a masterpiece in your eyes. Just sayin’. Don’t pretend your opinions are the only valid ones.
