i suppose since its an arcade perfect they aint gonna rebalance him? but we will still be able to use him in that game type that lets us spectate our freinds yeh ?

  • Pretty much, yeah.
  • Imagine Urien, but his normals are way faster, HP and HK do block damage, and many of his combos do ridiculous damage and stun. One simple juggle can do more stun than any of Makoto’s EX combos. His stamina’s very high, practically everything he does is safe on block, and there’s probably a bunch of smaller stuff I’m missing but that’s more than enough to warrant banning him.
  • I’m not sure, but that’s how it’s been for the past console ports so most likely.

and im gonna look up a few vids on youtube to see how broke he is. cus the ai is cheap with him so i can only imagine what a good player can do with him…

If anything there shouldnt be a new remixed version for PtR:OE. I think it should be intended as a love letter to the community for all our loyalty.

I think Hell Stage should definitely be banned from ranked matches and tournaments but it should be allowed in player matches if you both agree. If one person picks then the other person gets to confirm or deny that specific choice. Hell stage mirror match could be fun every once in a while just to mix it up but against any other stage I dont think people would want to play it 95% of the time and it wouldnt be allowed at Evo 2012 so why would anyone bother practicing for it?

Gill gets meterless infinites off of a c.hp. His three supers are:

Meteor drop. You can pretty much cough and confirm it. After it’s done, your opponent is frozen in a juggle state, so you can continue to combo afterwards.

Seraphic wing. Kills in one hit, comboable from any juggle, takes off half your life in chip.

Resurrection. Build meter and die, you come back. You lose all your meter, but then again, Gill builds it back insanely fast.

His normals are stupid good too.

Man I’ve been playing SFIV too long. I was expecting Gill to do a reset because of the damage scaling from stun but I forgot you actually get damage after stunning someone in this game. Go old games.

That was really done by the producer? That would be that Derek guy right? He seemed like he knew his shit but it can be hard to tell when it’s just like something they like and learned for PR or have genuine interest in.

they’re not infinites but the stun is so severe that i guess they may as well be. if characters had enough health he could probably restun despite the stun scaling. also, after resurrection, gill doesn’t build meter for the rest of the round.

i hope we’ll have to consciously enable the option to make gill selectable in player matches though. imagine if someone in the lobby gets salty at your win streak and brings out gill. wtf?

the aesthetics of resurrection looks so unnatural to me in this game.

Quick question. In SFIV, you can pre-buffer things like dragon punches when you’re knocked down, so that when you stand up, if someone is frame-trapping you, you can make them eat a DP (I call it cranking the engine, because everyone knows what you’re doing when you’re revving up that stick).

I fought a Makoto on GGPO, and not a single uppercut came out, as her mp frame trap just stuffed my DP (as Dudley) time and time again. At one point she even cmd grabbed me out of it, and I could still hear Dudley saying uppercut.

So, yeah. Once Makoto scores knockdown, life is hard as Dudley. Life is VERY hard.

So can I not pre-buffer DPs, or is her mp really stuffing them?

Dudley doesn’t have invincibility on his Jet Upper iirc

You can’t put the input in as early as sf4. You have to properly time it to get the ‘REVERSAL’ to show up. Her MP is stuffing it, I don’t think dudley has invincibility frames on his normal jet uppers. Unless you’re Akuma or you’re using an EX reversal on wakeup you really shouldn’t ever be going for any kind of srk type move. Your options are much better if you simply wakeup block. Makoto makes that very difficult but if she doesn’t have super it won’t be TOO painful if you don’t react/sniff it out.

you can go for ex or if you’re akuma I guess his fierce srk. But you want to input the srk and wait to hit the buttons till you see them do something. it takes practice but it is possible.

Makoto makes life very hard for every character when she knocks them down.

in the ryu vs cpu makoto vid from ign, part of the combo message gets cut off when he finishes with sa1. the message doesn’t scroll far enough into the screen to show the number of hits.
