So just block all the time and get thrown.
Yes, everything on wakeup is pretty much rock, paper, scissors but keep in mind you should be guessing what to do based on patterns your opponent has been weaving.
Nar’ mean?
Um… guessing is a important part of 3rd strike. If you guess parry on wake up everytime or srk, then ur an idiot. But guessing IS a part of the game.
Exodus guesses more than anyone else here.
Close this crap you hypocrite! :lovin:
yea you guys were right what was i really thinking? =O
3rd strike is not exactly rock paper scissors. In RPS, the event happens all at the exact same time. In 3rd strike you have time to react to what the other person has done, and there is always an answer to it. You have time to react to things when they happen in 3rd strike, whereas in RPS things happen simultaneously so you have to guess/anticipate.
Oh wait this is the online thread… MY BAD! :wgrin:
Haha… exo what are you doing?
Anyone feel like playing right now? Just got home and I wanna get a few matches in before I knock. I’ll monitor this forum for the next fifteen minutes but if no one responds I’m out.
Blocking is fun. And whatdoyaknow…it works! As if guess parrying and SRK on wakeup all the time wasnt bad enough. These are the same people who do nothing but hit buttons cause they dont know how to block especially…on wakeup lol. I know they’re gonna try something cause they do something every single fucking time, so I just block it and punish their ass but do they learn? Of course not. It can get really annoying with Ken players that just SRK the entire match. Stick to SFII.
it’s not rock paper scissors, it’s mathematics.
On wake, if you think about it logically, there are always MORE chances the attack will be aimed at mid, or high; and since the same block protects you mid, or high…you can adjust to that.
Alot of people will wake with a low block; which isn’t bad, but leaves you open to the throw, even though you CAN react fast enough to cause a “tech” or throw cancel.
Waking with parries generally occurs if someone is being very aggressive, but constantly doing it, will indeed, get you pwnzored.
SO people! Logically around 66% of all attacks against you on wake up, will be mid or high, the last 33% would be low. (None of which are counting throws; but 66 + 33 = 99 leaving 1% for throws! yay it works)
…I forgot what i was saying…ehhhh
You don’t know how to add, I’d say…
There is no such thing like 33% probability of a low hit or 66% for a high/mid attack.
Even if I do nothing but normals on you on wakeup, there’s no way you can determine a probability for high/mid or low hits since it’s my intention and not mathematics that make me attack.
If I wanted to I could do low short 99 times in a row on you on wakeup and you still wouldn’t be able to determine a probability.
yup.
what if i choose to never attack you directly as soon as you get up? what if i know you never parry->block? what if I know you’ll never beat me because you think you can parry high 66% and yay it works? oops, i meant
Who said anything about 66% parry? I said 66% chance the attack will come from high or mid, doesn’t mean anything about parrying.
This is a fighting game, and the one thing I’ve always stood behind, is lack of probability; but certain things are obvious.
Overall, there are MORE attacks that come from high or mid; other than a throw.
SO LOGICALLY, protecting from that is the best choice.
Getting hit on wake shouldn’t decide your match anyway, if it comes to that, you shouldn’t be playing this game.
I play Ibuki, so a suicide roll (safety roll) comes into play; but otherwise, you have to watch what your opponent is going to do, or play off what you’ve seen them do before.
Be water my friends…be water.
Yeah I also disagree on that. I’ve played people who don’t do anything directly on wake up and I’ve played people who go low majority of the time. SERIOUSLY THOUGH, no matter how much calculation you do, 3rd strike is a guessing game hands down. Unless you get the other players pattern/tendencies down, you WILL be guessing. Bascically, just fucking block low but BE PREPARED for an overhead or a throw. Or jump!!! It just depends on the person you’re playing. I truly think this is a pointless thread. Close this shit!! Thanks Exodus…
And I dont know what the hell you’re talking about. I just finished playing you and I punished you on wake up like everytime. You did wake up uppercuts with Dudley like a million times. hmmmm…
i’ll do wake up DPs all day if it works ;)…
how about: block and Red parry.
Well of course. If they’re too dumb to realize it, I’ll do it all day too.
Hell yeah. I’m working on that. You get red parries down, you can punish anything. Best advice on this subject yet.
Who cares, 3S sucks
