Streaming/Capturing/Video Editing on a netbook

tldr: I have a netbook and a dazzle and want to capture and edit matches on them. What issues will I have?

I’ve got a netbook and a dazzle. I was hoping to record matches at local gatherings or at home from my 360. I know I’ll probably need to invest in an external HD for the footage.

I had a few questions about this combo.

  1. I know I’m not going to be able to capture and play on the same screen. What’s the best bet for a way to split the signal coming off AV cables? I know my cable tuner has 2 AV out lines and an AV in, but I was hoping there’s something small I could get that will JUST take one AV in and give me two AV out channels. One for the tv and one for the dazzle.

  2. I’m simply assuming the netbook will not be capable of streaming. I may try it though. Will the netbook have any trouble recording if that’s all it is doing at the time?
It’s got an Intel Atom N450 1.67 GHz processor with 2 Gb RAM and a built in Intel 3150 media accelerator. At system idle Windows 7 is using 800 MB of my RAM, so I’ve got about 1.2 GB free.

  3. Assuming I manage to record, will my setup be horribly laggy during editing? I’ve never run video editing stuff before so I don’t know if it’s like CAD or not. I’ve run CAD on the netbook through cloud computing and it was slightly laggy but rendered better than I expected.

All I can help with is #1. For that, a video distribution amp. I have one available so PM sent. :china:

my netbook with those exact same specs uses up all the processing power and is not even able to record 640x480 at 30fps. You are definitely not doing any streaming. Recording will have to be done at a lower resolution or at the expense of smooth framerate.

Video processing with an atom will also take a century and a half.

Ok, I had the feeling that might be the answer :frowning:
Thanks.
