Streaming and Recording Guide/Research

i did use xplit a while ago, but it gave me a lot of problems with my sources. I guess i can give it another shot now though.

Ive been searching…Can you do 2 setups on one pvr(1x 360, 1x ps3)… I have hauppage 1212… I was looking at hdfury 3 (two hdmi inputs) and wonder if that works.

Will this comp be capable for high quality streaming?

Amd x4 640
Biostar a770e3
2x2gb pc3-1333
Msi hd4890 1gb
Avertv hd dvr

Also what else besides the above components are needed to stream from my xbox? Id like 2 mics and cam on the players/commentators. I saw someone said they bought a powered splitter from amazon for $26 is that all i need?

Also can someone recommend me a good hdmi powered splitter? Ive looked at the ones on the front page, but im wondering if theres a cheaper alternative thats similar

Was looking at this one from monoprice.com

Hey guys I have a few questions about streaming.

I can’t really afford to get a really expensive capture card so I went the cheap route (and this’ll just be for fun anyways :P). I’m getting an EasyCap to use with my XBOX360. I also ordered a VGA splitter to use because I’m using the xbox on a VH236H and I don’t have a TV in my room.

How would I stream both my microphone and the sound coming from the game at the same time? I only have 1 soundcard and a sound card on the front of my case.

Thanks

Thanks for your help. I’ll do it this way: PS3 (or xbox) connected to the Hauppauge (only video), audio cables connected to a mixer Behringer Xenyx 802, and the mixer connected to the Hauppauge. How to send the video to Wirecast we already know, but as I do with the audio? I’m using windows 7 32bit.

Thank you

I’m looking to record my small gatherings ala an Internet stream. I’m not looking to go hd at the moment. I currently have a dazzle and have decent results with it but I am confused on where to go with cameras and mics.

Is there software that can record multiple USB mics at once? What about recording 2 different USB cameras at the same time as my dazzle? Is all of this possible to do simultaneously? With my computer I’m able to record one USB mic in audacity and the dazzle at the same time with no problems but with 2 mics and 2 cameras…I don’t even know where to start.

My goal is to edit and compose it on a way to look like a stream… Only not live.

You need to make sure your computer sound recorder has stereo mix, that way you’ll be able to record your usb mics. VHMulticam and XSplit are free and can be used to record multiple cameras.

I’ll have to check the baseline stuff when I get home, but I’m using Wirecast right now with my Black Magic Intensity Pro. The problem I am having is for the first 15 minutes of the stream, everything is good. After that though, the sound goes haywire and hella frames are dropped in the video. I am using an older version of Wirecast though so that might be it. It could be my Intensity Pro also I guess, but if I restart Wirecast everything works fine again for another 15 mins. It does not seem to matter what resolution bitrate I am using. The same issue keeps happening. This does not seem to happen with other programs though I don’t remember if I tried for more then 15 mins or not with them. I believe Media Express works fine, but of course that program came with the Intensity Pro so it would. Too bad I can’t steam with it (or can I?) I’m going to try the trail version of the newest Wirecast and see how long that goes until the vid starts to go bad.

Has anyone had any problems like this before?

I’m completely new to this. How can I check if it has stereo mix? Is there a starting thread I can read through?

Sounds like memory leak or some similar bug in Wirecast. Try a newer version.

I’m trying the Wirecast 4 right now and it refuses to show video. I’ve messed around with all settings. I’ve used old drivers for the Intensity Pro, used different versions of Media Express and it just says “fuck you, I’m not playing your video”. Wirecast blows.

Hey guys,

I was wondering what your thoughts on the Diamond VC500? I tried getting the EasyCap but unfortunaly it just isn’t working for me, it’s only showing black and white no matter what I do and no matter what drivers I install. I figured it was because I got a cheap knock off copy of the real thing? It’s an EZcap now instead of EASYcaps. Oh well was only $10 so not a big loss.

Would the DiamondVC500 be a lot better than the easy cap or should I try and get the Happauge PVR? I’ll need it to have S-Video in as I’m using VGA inputs and using a VGA splitter that has an input for VGA but outputs either vga or svideo.

This streaming and recording is just going to be for fun so I’m not sure if I should look into dropping a lot of money into this. I’ve already spent around $60 for splitter, cables, and easycrap stuff. The DiamondVC500 is on sale for $30…

No matter what program I am using, the stream eventually start dropping a lot of frames. The longer i run it, the more frames get dropped. Also, for some reason, when I hit ctrl+alt+del, then escape out, the stream is fine again. Any idea what this could be? I’m willing to do whatever including upgrading any hardware necessary to fix this annoying issue.

Hate to bump, but is there any FAQ on recording tournaments or a beginning thread on streaming I coil look through? I don’t wanna bug this thread with my questions

Scratch that…, seems that this happens in all programs except for Flash Media Encoder… What gives???

Did you not read the first post? And/Or use the search thread function?

What does your memory usage look like? On startup? After 15-20min when it starts messing up? What OS r u using? It still sounds like a memory thing. 4GB is good of course more is better, but if you are using a 32bit OS you are already maxed out. Have you tried Video Blaster?

I’m using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. My memory usage goes to about 1.8mb. Its always around there at all times before and after it starts dropping frames. Cpu usage goes to about 30% max. My computer should be cruising, but after that 30 mins or so, the stream is ass though my computer seems to be running just fine… I don’t know wtf is happening.

When I use Flash Media Live Encoder, I ran it for an hour this morning with zero dropped frames. But I can’t go past 320X240 resolution and my cpu usage shoots up to 95%. If I go any higher, it drops frames right away.

I’ve tried Vid blaster. But the audio is always insanely out if sync with the video. I followed DJ Wheat’s post earlier in the thread to resolve this, but the program he recommended won’t work as a virtual camera for me for some reason.

It just seems like if it isn’t one thing, its something else. Very frustrating.

Streaming is hard.

So does it drop frames that you can see on your PC? Or is it only noticeable from viewers watching the stream? Could it be your ISP throttling you connection? I don’t know man. Just grasping at straws at this point. I would definitely use FMLE if it’s all you can do. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

It happens on my end as well as on the stream so its not my isp. I will have to use FME for my stream this weekend, but I would like this problem resolved at some point.
