Streaming and Recording Guide/Research

So, can you suggest the layout to set it up so I can test it out? I’ll be updating a new processor pretty soon along with a graphic card.

You’re probably not going to want to use XSplit or Wirecast for your stream on that hardware, either – while you’ll gain the ability to do overlays, etc. easily, they’re going to eat up your resources. You’ll get better performance out of a basic screengrabbing program + command-line transcoding w/ FME or something. I don’t know the PC software solutions too well, but I do believe both of these things have been mentioned in this very thread; time to do some reading.

Here is one way to get your stream feed on an external monitor for people around the venue with xsplit(at least until they put it in officially). If you have a computer that can extend displays then this should work for you.

Is there a way to fix the resolution for the external output?

I’ve started using the remote text update in XSplit and it’s been very useful. I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the text alignment?

If someone can teach me the settings. I wanna test it out and see how it goes for streaming PC wise.

what do you mean by fix? Fix as in set it to a certain size or fix as in you have a problem? When you extend your display, each display can have there resolutions set Independently.

So when I tried the method from the Youtube tutorial video, I noticed after getting VLC to load the feed from Xsplit, the aspect ratio was all wrong. It looked like it got squished into a 4:3 box. It was the same way in the tutorial video.

After you select xsplit click on advanced options and and there will be an option to set the aspect ratio

Thanks striderzer0, I think I might finally make the switch from Wirecast to Xsplit now.

So black magic is pretty much the way to go huh?

If you have a good computer. Why not? Or, you can go with the hauppauge hd pvr.

Hello everyone. I have read this entire thread and I did see some things that can help me out but I still need help streaming or atleast reccomendations on what I need to do.

My set up
MacBook pro 13" 2009
Core2duo 2.53
8gigs ram
Hauppauge hd pvr
Sound flower
Cam twist
Elago eye tv
Wirecast
Down speed is 14Kbps up speed is 1.5Kbps(time warner)

My issue is that when I try to stream, It lags. I put my bitrate to 400 and its still horrible. My CPU jumps to 99%

Any reccomendations for me to tweak my settings or use fmle?

Oh yeah I have to use overlays multicam and mics as its going to be for a tournament in a few weeks.

What are you streaming at 360x480p? if its that High maybe ur comp is not powerful enough to stream. Check the resolution ur trying to broadcast at u might need to lower the resolution

So I just got a new AverTV HD DVR capture card. But I’m having trouble getting Xsplit to pick it up. Under cameras it only shows up as the AVerMedia BDA Analog Capture and Secondary. I can do a screen capture using the packaged software, but I was under the impression that Xsplit played nice with it and I wouldn’t need to use a work around like that.

Edit: It’s working now. I’m not quite sure what I did.

Though, I have another question. Is there a way to split the audio out using that breakaway cable it comes with?

Is it possible to get these drivers reposted?

Speaking of getting capture devices to play nice…

Does the Black Magic Intensity Pro “play nice” with Xsplit? I keep seeing contradicting answers on the internet, so I thought I would ask and see if anyone here uses it. I really disliked the Hauppauge PVR because capturing the screen is annoying, so I’m looking to find a device that alllows me to take video straight from the card in to Xsplit with no worries.

Sorry but i only have drivers for AVerTV CAPTURE HD H727, not for C027.

It works, after a fashion, pretty well for me. There’s two different control panels, so it can be a pain to get it up and running initially, but once you learn what settings need to be set where, it’s great quality and very low latency on the capture. I highly recommend it.

I might be messaging you in a few days if I can’t get it to work! Thanks for the advice.
