So I was just playing a little bit before dinner, and 2 things occured.
I was in a player match room, and whenever I would win and get to be the “Current Leader” or whatever term you would want to use, it would disconnect. Is this some type of bug someone figured out?
I fought a ranked matches. The first one, someone dropped when I got up 2 rounds to zero. No big deal, it happens. But then I check my record and somehow I had dropped to the lowest possible rank, and have 0 ranking points. How could this have possibly happened?
I’ve been reading about the 0 ranking a lot in the internet, I haven’t checked if it happened to me because well… I really don’t care about ranking (and I had a pretty good ranking btw).
The ranked system doesn’t prove much really, sure U need to know how to play to get a good ranking but the disconnections are BS, U get disconnected and it counts as a loss and drop you like 20 ranks which u have to regain by beating 1000 scrubs.
Besides the achievements, I really don’t see any point to keep playing ranked matches.
Well this is how I’m looking at it the Developers are going to be top and so are the hardcore players they know. Leaderboards don’t mean jack especially when the developers of the game itself are ranked at the top They easily know everything about the game inside and out so why are they even trying to be on the top of the leaderboards is the only question I have. To test them?
Yeah this same thing happened to me this afternoon. I just pisses me off that I am now on the bottom of my friends list because someone else dropped on me. I am just playing to get the achievement and then its player matches only. It just sucks because it seems like the better players are playing ranked not player matches. Almost every time I play regular matches people play me claim I am being cheap or throwing to much then drop.
WTF… I was 25th or so… with 530 wins a and 60 loses … Now I’m like 32962936239 place… This software is such ass… I have never seen such crap. Don’t get me wrong I love the game itself, but this shit mustt have been programmed by a bunch of 5th graders…
This just happened to me on the Xbox version. It still has my win/loss record, and it appears accurate, but my rating has been reset to 0 so I’m like 40,000+ rank now, whereas 10 mins ago, I was top 100 worldwide… and I haven’t lost or disconnected. I just kept winning, and all of a sudden I have a 0 rating.
I know this is happening to a lot of other people too because over the past two nights, my ranking on the all-time remix leaderboard has been going up when I have not been playing. Two nights ago, I was ranked ~ 140. Last night, I logged on and was ranked 130. I thought it was odd that I climbed 10 spots without playing. Usually, if you’re idle for a period of time, you’ll go down 10-20 spots because people played when you were idle. Tonight, I went from rank 120 last night to 98 tonight. My theory is at least 20 people dropped out of the top 100 overnight… well 21 if you count me just now, though I probably don’t deserve to be top 100 since I didn’t earn it.
I wasn’t too attached to ranking anyway, but I sure hope Capcom fixes this with a patch. It would be tragic and I suspect shatter the community if a bug like this is allowed to stay. Shame because it’s a good game too.
This has also happened to me. Oh well. Hopefully it will be fixed… otherwise what’s the point of playing ranked matches? Haha… I guess time to linger around Player matches for a bit.
Happened to me twice last night. It’s quite fun to lose over and over again because I can’t do shit on a 360 pad then finally win and immediately get dropped.
Then again last night I had some other online issues also, could just be coincidence.
This game has a lot of technical issues. One match I played my health bars were fucked up, my opponent had electricity permanently circling them and a third bug I can’t remember now.
this glitch has been talked about since day one, mainly on psn tho. wasnt to ocommon it seemed on 360. But for some reason, especially on unity forums, the threads all of a sudden were getting flooded with people experiencing this glitch all day today. I wonder if it has something to do with the stats site or it has to do with interaction with the psn and xbl servers. i don’t find it to be a coincidence when its happening like crazy to everyone today
I think I understand why your rep is…certainly not green.
I don’t think the leaderboards even have any of the developers on it aside from Sirlin…knowing a game’s mechanics does not make you good at the game (just look at me )
Why do you guys even care about that lame rank system so much?
90% of the people who even play this on live are noobs, casuals, or washed-up SSF2T vets who haven’t touched the title since like 19** Beating a bunch of srcubs to get your name to the top of the leaderboards really doesn’t prove anything. Sure you might have had a tough match or two in there but seeing as you get to pick and choose who you fight, it’s easy to avoid “that one guy” who kicks your ass all over the place and still rank up, it’s not much to say “i’m number 1” aside of saying yo ass need a social life. That and players matches are just way more fun if you ask me. It’s the closest you get to have the good ole local arcade scene at home. That, and you can lvl up your skillz all day playing against other kats with alot of exp.

PSS. The glitch is hitting the {Start} button when you pick certain charaters. It will auto-drop the game and kick your oppenent wether they’re current leader or not.
I tested this on an online tornament and win every match by doing so and got my name on the leaderboard as the tornament winner.
We don’t care if you think the ratings are BS. Thats not the point, Fuck I could agrue the point that SF is just a video game and none of it matters. The fact is the rating system is there and it crashed and it does matter to people who want it to matter. The point is the rating system is part of the game and should work properly.

even the player matches where its quarter style is fucked up. If you’re streaking, chances are you’ll run into the life bar glitch where you can’t fucking see how much damn life you have.
You’re so off it hurts.
First, you can’t choose who you play. You CAN do a custom search but the only thing you see are people’s pings, not their names nor their records. That and the chance of fighting scrubs who’ll award you no points skyrockets with custom.
Microsoft rating system is very well made in that it awards you significant points only if you beat people above you. That means you can boost like a nolife all day and if you don’t acttually get better it won’t do shit. Hell some people are top 50 after very few games, just because they beat the right people.
Also lol washed up vets, everyone and their mom has been playing this on ggpo like a motherfucker.
I don’t know about you (well you obviously haven’t tried ranked much) but in player matches i fight nothing but absolute noobs, and in the rare occurance that someone decent is in the room, the person that looses has to watch the other beast on 3-4 scrubs before getting his turn again. Plus some people don’t leave even if they lag like hell and you can’t boot them. Ranked does a good job of pitting you up against people close to your ranking. I was around 200 before the glitch and i can’t remember the last time i played a total noob in ranked. It’s also cool that the ranked matches are 3 rounds (at least on 360), because you have more time to pick up people playstyles.
With that said, ranking doesn’t really matter, just because you’re above someone doesn’t mean you’re better of course. In fact you should not care about your ranking at all, just play and you’ll see that you start fighting much better people after a while.
Sure you loose the occasional match because of lag or a disconnect but does it really matter? This is not a life or death thing, it doesn’t really matter if you loose a few points because you’ll eventually get them back anyway. Hell i learned cammy and sagat in ranked. Sure at first i was loosing lots but you make up for it afterwards.
With that said, holy shit this game is a mess. No single player demo, glitches everywhere, settings not saving, PS3 lag and now this? I think at this point we can say backbone fucked up big time. Good thing this is ST and the netcode is still pretty good and that sirlin tweaks are fun.
However now i think i’ll just play ranked until i play people close to my level then just try to add them as friends so i can do player matches with them.
