I too have an SE (modded with buttons and jlf) for the 360 and have been having random controller disconnects. Unfortunately I don’t have another breakaway cable to test but if anyone comes up with other possible solutions, I’m all ears.
My problem happens kinda frequently, my roommate and I probably play 3 hours a day between the two of us and it happens about every 1.5 days.
Honestly it would be weird if it were the cable, since they’re so basic. Its probably a PCB issue, but I’m gonna try a replacement breakaway cable before going into that just to be sure.
I’ll post back here when I test it out.
For those who might want to try the same, there are various sellers of breakaway cables.
Just Google ‘xbox 360 breakaway cable’. There are some that are 6-foot extensions too…and around $10 its not that bad for an experiment.
I E-mailed MadCatz customer service with this exact same problem and they responded saying it was probably the Security PCB and they were sending a replacement.
They sent it out a couple days ago so I haven’t received it yet, but you guys should try contacting them.
Another note, my stick was also out of warranty but the up switch came broken out of the box and after I explained to them, they sent the PCB free of charge.
Is madcatz helping you guys out even if you “opened the box” and modded the sticks? I thought this voided warranty.
