I doubt it. Besides I have no intention to change my opinion. I’m firm in my beliefs.
When you have a deep feeling of loathing for certain things, it only makes you madder to see people trying to shine a positive light on it.

Well there’s your first problem. Always be open to new ideas.
Anyways. Back to my point from before. Ecstasy was recently ranked the 18th most dangerous drug by a British medical journal (alcohol was 5th, and marijuana was…7th?), and a health official was quoted as saying it was “less dangerous than aspirin.” I don’t do ecstasy, but this is a good exercise to challenge people’s perceptions of “harmful” substances.
I respect your opinions and all, but the problem is you don’t respect other people’s opinions. It’s easy to try to label people as “junkies” trying to “justify.” But it’s a lot harder to actually think about these ideas you’ve had all your life.
Here’s a story for you. When I was in HS, I was in a band with 4 people who smoked marijuana. I wouldn’t do it with them for probably a year, because I thought it was “bad,” until I noticed that nothing bad had every happened to them, and they all seemed fine while doing it, not like what I had been told. So I decided to do some research on my own. After doing a bunch of reading, I found out that the shit is just not that bad, so I decided to try it with them the next time. Basically from that point on, I did it socially from time to time, making sure never to do anything stupid (driving, etc.) and everything was fine. Like I said, it’s been a couple years now since I’ve done it, but that only serves to further my point that just because you do these things, doesn’t make it a “habit” or an obstruction to leading a normal life.
Like grandpa always used to say, “You haven’t lived if you have never had a stripper sniff a rail of speed of your dick.” Something like that anyway :clown:
Seriously though, I understand that you want to game with like-minded people, but if the gaming is all going to be done online, why would you want to exclude people who smoke or drink? It just seems wholly unrelated/unnecessary.
I’ve known folks who have gone the same way mayne
Yea i agree. Sorry every one for posting a bad idea and a touch subject up on srk but thanks for every thing, I just wanted to see what was people thoughts on my idea. Again i will be re thinking and doing this and making a gaming group simular to Empire Arcadia.
See, that’s the thing. I have gone and let people show me all sorts of stuff on how marijuana is ‘not that bad for you’ or anything like that, but in the end, I still find it repulsive and I know that its not good.
Just because you can do something bad in moderation and not get penalised for it, doesn’t automatically make it a good thing.
As for being open to new ideas, I’m always open for new ideas so long as it doesn’t get into certain areas that I want nothing to do with. I hang around with furries for goddsakes. You have no idea how tired I am of hearing people talk about open-mindedness or 'do what you want!" The general lack of certain morality amongst various social groups in this nature is what annoys me the most.
I know I know I know that I do sound like a raging hypocrite in most cases (and probably am, eh?) but drugs, smoking and social drinking are so high on my list of pet peeves for various personal reasons, mainly because I do not think it’s necessary to question everything, and am a firm believer that if something is against the law, then it’s against the damn law. So don’t do it! Don’t try to glorify it.
That, and smoking anything just looks so ugly. It’s an eyesore.
hallucinogens aren’t just about “conjuring up images,” it’s a spiritual experience. and yeah, it feels great, but not because you’re doped up, but because you become incredibly aware of the beauty and perfection of nature/math/patterns, the entire system of existence, that most people just gloss over on their way to work. and if you think you experience this without psychedelics, you don’t. honestly, it’s a whole different level.
i never took any substance until i was 18 years old, so i understand your rule-follower mentality. you’re afraid you won’t be able to control yourself, you don’t like the idea of your mind (and decision making ability) altered, but you’ve gotta realize you’re still you when you’re high on (CERTAIN) drugs, you’re not going to jump out of a window or anything unless you’re already whacked in the head. now, if you think you might jump out of a window, you’ve made a good choice by not tempting fate, but i’d say probably something like 40% of americans do drugs? and most of them are alright, some better off than others.
cocaine, opiates, amphetamines, alcohol, nicotine, benzodiazepines, any drug that affects your dopamine levels has the power to turn people into fiends, and you’re much better off avoiding these.
psychedelics (including weed), on the other hand, can expand your consciousness and make life a more spiritually fulfilling experience. although if you DON’T enjoy weed (makes you see demons & shit) DO NOT TRY ANY OTHER DRUGS. it’s not so much a gateway drug as an entrance exam.
if you don’t mind, would you explain what you didn’t like about your first & only weed smoking experience?
Sign me up straight edge since 03
See…I’m a competitive person by nature. I have always liked to think that I can do things myself and by my own talents. So taking mind-altering drugs to enhance or augument my drawing or envisioning abilities goes against my principles you know?
I can do all of those things you listed without having to take drugs. I have other ways of getting myself into a rewarding spiritual state and appreciating the beauty of things. For me, if your taking drugs to get into a high, you’re cheating yourself and not making the most of your OWN potential.
Anyway, the first time I did weed, It was ok while it lasted. However, when I came down, I realised that I felt like absolute shit for taking it in the first place, and that the high I experienced it felt unnatural and forced. It’s just not for me.
See you made two different arguments here.
My point here is this. Nobody wants to force you to do anything. If you want to live a life without drinking, smoking, doing whatever, go for it. I promise you, none of us will try to force you to smoke marijuana. But people like you try to go and ruin it for everybody else. What makes you the one who gets to decide if something is “immoral.” You want shit to be illegal? Why? What difference does it make to you if someone else does something that’s bad for them. How about we outlaw McDonalds cuz that shit makes you fat and gives you heart attacks?
Fuck that shit!!!
…
FUCK it!
quoted for truth!!!
See, that’s a very selfish mentality. “what difference does it make if someone else does something that 's bad for them?”
I get really upset when I see my friends and/or people I care about doing silly stuff like this. Furthermore, if people go around promoting stuff that’s bad for you, then more people will be spurred on to do it, and then the chances of it getting to someone you care about increases.
Fine. I’m too compassionate for my own good sometimes. I care too much about random strangers and it causes me more grief then it should when I see people smoking on street corners or see high school kids getting drunk. It’s just a crying shame.
mcdonalds is not comparable. It’s bad for you, but not in the same way. You aren’t going to hallucinate or get high after eating a cheeseburger unless it was a damn good cheeseburger.
QFT lol.
Oh Jesus, “too compassionate”? You’re not serious are you? Some of the things people perceive as “bad” aren’t, and some of the things people perceive as “OK” or “good” are bad for you, and it shouldn’t be up to you to decide what’s right and wrong.’
Also lol at the McDonalds part, you’re saying it’s OK because it doesn’t have the same (positive) short term effects, only the long-term negative effects? That’s a rock solid argument if I’ve ever seen it. If it produces a feeling of euphoria, it’s bad? If it doesn’t, it’s not?
Dude, anyone can tell just from looking that smoking anything is bad, both on a mental, physical or spiritual level. It’s just instinct. People try too hard to justify that rubbish. Deep down, you all KNOW you’re doing something naughty.
And you know full well what I mean about the mcdonalds thing too.
This is getting repetitive, like playing ping-pong or something. Fuck drugs, fuck smoking and drinking. I want to go out with friends and not be ridiculed because I’m the only one who doesn’t drink/smoke. that’s all.
no.
No matter how much you wish they did, other people think and feel differently from you.
no.
I don’t.
If you’ve got friends who give you shit for not wanting to drink, you probably need better friends.
im drunk as shit LETS GO STRAIGHT EDGE FUCK YA
I was hoping frustratedsquirrel was a troll, but now I guess he’s actually just ignorant, stupid and republican. Fuck you frustratedsquirrel. Let people do what they want with their own bodies. No one cares if you smoke or not, but let those that want to do so.
There is no such thing as right and wrong. There’s healthy, and unhealthy. Anything in excess is unhealthy. Most things in moderation are fine. Some very addictive chemicals can become bad for you, quickly, but most things aren’t that addictive. Watch out for opiates though. Opiates will fuck you up. =\ I will never do opiates recreationally.
Frustratedsquirrel, you stand for so many things I hate. Educate your dumb fuckin’ self.
Also fuck whoever neg repped my last post, debate it here, don’t neg rep what you don’t agree with, you cowardly piece of shit.
(lol you only brought me down by 200 points you idiot, post a bit more before you try to rep someone)
lol something naughty
Look pot ain’t bad. It ain’t amazing, but it ain’t bad. Smoking anything is bad for your health, but what weed does to you isn’t dangerous at all as long as you stay away from heavy machinery, driving, talking to supervisors and being around pregnant women.
AND if pot was so bad for pregnant women we’d probably see a whole bunch of deformed babies coming out of Jamaica.
The only thing bad about t is that it makes you lazy, and OK with being lazy.
definite troll, gg
It sure is fighting games in here
