I’m running a raffle and want to know if its legal
if you donate 5$ or more to my paypal you get entered into a chance for me to come to your house dressed up as a french maid and I step on your face with my feet which will be recently dunked in nacho cheese.

Wrong. No one is talking about the fact that they’re winning tournaments or making money from sponsorships. We’re talking about making money in an illegal and morally questionable fashion. Hell, you’re not even donating money to these players doing raffles. Donation implies you’re giving money to help out an individual or group, but in this case you’re just gambling.
It’s like saying everyone was jealous of Marn talking about which NOS girl he’d have sex on WNF because people didn’t agree with what he did. Doesn’t make any sense.

What the purpose of asking for donations essentially to fix something he broke, unless of course he simply didn’t want to spend his own money on it so he turned to the gullible stream monsters of the world to fix it for him

If this one thread made me think about one thing, is if the EVO organizers are going to come down on gambling at the tournament. Those are illegal, too, but have been pervasive in the culture for over a decade.
I’d have no problem with raffles if they weren’t illegal.
Though, I think it’d be a lot more convenient for all of us out here in reality land if american FG “celebs” would cut the shit and just start begging. People will still give them money, it’s just going to be a lot more fun to laugh at how pathetic they are.

Evo doesn’t need to concern itself with personal bets made on the side or what folks MMs folks do in their hotel rooms.
The problem with raffles is that your finaicial gain from a stream should not be dependent on the viewer feeling like he wants to gamble. It is a variable income source that can’t be predicted, so it is stupid to run your stream like that if you honestly NEED the money. Also, if you are big enough to warrant a lot of money from raffles I gurantee you don’t need the money, and you can make enough money by promoting/ads via the stream. This means you make no demands on the viewers to sustain the stream.
Every person who does a raffle doesn’t think or care about the viewers, since they are asking rather than providing. The stream monsters only job should be turning off adblock on streams they support or if they really want faces then subscribe. They should not be asked to donate money for stream upgrades when there is 0 transperacy in where that money goes and from what I’ve seen of raffles they are mainly to fund other raffles.
My concern is stupid people who get hustled, they are still people, but it is not really a hustle its more of structured gambling. It is more about protecting them from themselves.

Also… This doesn’t really make much sense… Because you can’t afford a hobby means you shouldn’t be enjoying it or doing it at all?
