It’s from some super-old Chinese (?) cartoon which goes by the name of Thunder Prince. I bought that shit at a Wal Mart for $1. Seems a little expensive, in hindsight.
Terrible movie, worst dubbing ever- that’s not the audio being desynched because of encoding at the start of the video- the whole movie just has fucked up sound. But it has its funny (for bad reasons) moments.
amen… i hate nothing more than some wapanese dipshit ruining a video by including anything out of the garbage genre that is called “j-pop”… even worse is the pseudo-epic “rock” that sounds like it belongs in a power rangers episode circa 1994. it is almost as if to be a combo video maker, your musical tastes must be stinkier than a bowl of 3 month old shit pudding.
The only thing more annoying than bad music is listening to people bitch about something that’s purely an issue of taste. Your speakers do have an off switch.
Anyway, I don’t mind combo vids that are primarily geared toward entertainment, because even that shit can be useful. Does anyone care to count the number of times somebody has said, “This shit is cool, but it’s too gimmicky to use in anything other than exhibitions,” only to find that Japanese player #46 has found a legitimately effective use for it in competitive play?
But yeah, it is kind of annoying when the “combo” predicates itself on the fact that the opponent will just stand there with his thumb up his ass and do nothing to defend himself. Not that it isn’t worth putting stuff like that in, but I prefer that it be kept to a minimum (a handful of “golly gee, watch this silly fireball juggle” type moments here and there amidst the more straight-faced stuff).
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I don’t think the anime stuff in combo videos is so bad, so long as it’s in context. Like I remember DJB-13 used to have some animated stuff (ie. from the X-Men cartoon for the Wolverine combo video), and I think Majestros did one Guile video with stuff from the SFII:V series. As long as it’s relevant to the video and not intrusive, I think it can work OK.
I don’t watch KOF combo videos, and they seem to be a big violator of all the rules in the first post, so maybe I’m missing something.
Thanks for all of the comments about the video, BTW. I was using Windows Movie Maker, so I was limited in how irritating I could be with the special effects. Needed more upside-down combos in hindsight.
