No see raz0r has clearly stated multiple times that he is actually a MINORITY HIMSELF therefore it’s TOTALLY ALRIGHT when he criticizes other minorities for carrying themselves in a way that CLEARLY MAKES THEM SUSPICIOUS, but white people CLEARLY SHOULDN’T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS THEMSELVES because they’re OBVIOUSLY NOT LIKE THAT
We’re done here folks, the statistics say so, and saying anything against statistics means you’re either a conspiracy nutjob or a dense retard, because statistics based on crime in New York are absolutely flawless
“Minorities cause most violent crimes in NY. Here’s the statistics backing that up,” is strawman? We have very different criteria for strawman arguments.
i’m in NYC.
My Asian friend told me once…"I smoke weed every day."
I said "oh yeah. So…do you ever get worried about being busted by 5 O?"
And he smirked at me and was like "Bro. Look at me."
And I was like "Wut? What are you saying? Are you saying that just because you’re Asian…it means the cops never suspect you of any wrongdoing coz no one suspects Asians of doing anything criminal?"
And he just smiled…an evil devious smile…a ear to ear grin…like the cat that just ate the canary…and said, "Of course that’s what I’m saying."
And I laughed.
And I said, "Bro. Its the complete opposite with me. i’m Puerto Rican. So everywhere I go, the cops are always suspecting me. They slow down their ride and stare at me every time i’m standing still outside, or every time they get on the train with me they just stare in my direction with the stare that says “you’re suspicious looking.” I am public enemy number 1 in their eyes."
Then he just nodded in agreement.
Lets be real. Stop and Frisk=racial profiling.
Lets not kid ourselves with the whole “racial profiling has no factor in stopping and frisking someone” nonsense that the commissioner and the mayor wanna sell that snake oil story to the public. No one is falling for that.
The cops don’t stop white and Asian guys.
Oh btw, Raz0r, Asians and whites do commit many crimes, but the cops never look in that direction to make any arrests. Hell, I’ve even seen cops look the other way when whites have committed crimes.
People always protect their own.
Sad, but true.
But I do agree blacks/Hispanics need to stop the violent crime stupidity in their neighborhoods.
example:
I live in the projects.
Asian kid that makes Chinese food deliveries gets beaten and robbed in my building.
Why?
coz he’s Asian.
therefore, he stood out from the crowd in "da hood"
That’s not right.
racism is a two way street. You cant pick on the Asian/white guy coz they stand out of the crowd…and then get upset at the cops racial profiling your dumb ass. Doesn’t work that way.
Blacks and Hispanics are also let go of petty crimes, too. That’s not just a white/Asian thing. It’s more of a “is the paperwork even worth this minor crime” thing. Just depends on the cop you get at that moment. And they are arrested for crimes and put in the statistics. When you look at the NYPD’s yearly report, blacks cause the overwhelming majority of violent crimes followed by Hispanics.
I’m Puerto Rican/Mexican, never been profiled in the city. Even when I lived in the whitest parts of Brooklyn (Hello, Williamsburg!) the police never gave me a second glance. I have nothing to hide. I do carry molly, an open container, and coke from time to time but I’ve never once worried about being stopped and frisked. This also applies to Harlem, Bushwick, UES, UWS, Chelsea, LES, East Village, Alphabet City, Park Slope, Red Hook, that shitty town TNL is located at, etc. So I don’t know what you are doing to look suspicious, but I’m from the same brown country you’re from and I don’t catch shit.
I love it when people debate the efficacy of questionable tactics used by our authorities to keep us in line, as if that’s even slightly the god damn point.
The efficacy is one of the central aspects of it. If it weren’t effective what would be the point to do it at all? I understand you don’t want your civil liberties intruded upon just because of the color of the skin you had since birth, but there is more to it than just “BLACK PEOPLE ARE BEING TARGETED OH MAI GAWD!” It’s also because blacks and Latinos are the biggest committers of violent crime in this city.
Efficacy has nothing to do with it, because the nature of the objection has nothing to do with whether or not it works. To bring efficacy into the argument is sophistry.
Terrorism obviously works. Torture obviously works. Domestic spying obviously works. (Well, not PRISM…) Militarizing the police force obviously works. That’s not the point.
SQF working is absolutely not a fallacious argument. The entire reason it was implemented was because the NYPD needed a method to stop drug selling and gun violence. That’s why it’s used. I get the whole expectation of privacy, and that is a big concern to everyone, but so is the safety of law-abiding citizens when specific groups of people are committing over half the violent crimes in the city. So I’m not trying to mislead you, I’m just showing you why the policy was adopted and what it’s meant to deter without trying to shout over your calls of privacy and unlawful search and seizure.
FWIW, torture doesn’t work. There are military records that were unsealed a few years after torture came to light in Gitmo that showed none of the information gathered was useful at all. I think one of the generals on the Joint Chiefs of Staff tried to say it did but had absolutely zero proof to back up his claim. Studies also show anyone would say anything if they believed it would stop the torture. During the Algiers War France adopted a torture policy and it didn’t do shit for them, either.
I actually consider situations like this modern day reperations in America in away. Any type of enthicity favoritism (affirmative action, NAACP and whatever other ethnicity call theirs, white-on-black crimes) feels like some form of reperations. Don’t need 40 acres and a mule anymore, MFs need jobs, and some form of security from bigotry. I fear it will only end when caucasian are on the receiving end.
I see comments like this and no one wants to answer it seriously, they just rabble rabble Al rabble rabble Jessie rabble rabble thanks Obama. Just my 2 cents.
When I read a story about an assault and the only description I’m given is, “the suspect is a 5-foot-11 man with a baseball cap, blue jeans, and sneakers,” I begin to wonder what the point is to report the story and ask the public for help identifying the suspect.
