Stony Brook University Main Campus (SUNY) Players?

Hey guys there is a tourney in Buffalo happening with quite a big draw and cash prize, think about coming out, it will be worth the trip!

Ask any questions you want in that thread.

cha cha

Whoever set it to free play is a dumbass, that’s all I gotta say. Trying to be cute and funny and shit but ended up ruining it for the rest of us. I hope you’re reading this, whoever you are, b/c your ass is dumb.

Yeah GG’s to Doug, Brett, and Denf yesterday.

Doug, the Darkside is awaiting you.:badboy:

Stony Brook represent!!

Kevin, I thought you graduated during spring? I know Rakeem (no idea how to spell it) was staying an extra year for a masters of some sort.

From how it was before I graduated (spring) you really can’t find too much “serious” comp on campus. Tekken was alright but it was mainly because of Spero Gin and some SBU ppl going to CTF for sessions here and there. Tekken scene is kind of dead now that people graduated and the guitar hero people raiding the SAC TV. The guilty gear scene was pretty scrubby as well, most in part by people not knowing what the hell to do. The 3rd Strike scene I want to say was “alright” but other than maybe Kevin, not many people were interested in looking up stuff and getting better. Hell, I didn’t touch the game for years and still beat a ton of people using simple poking mechanics.

TBH, the only real thriving scene I saw there was SSB. Ton of people play it, a good amount go to tournaments, and a good amount of people actually look up stuff and better their gameplay. I don’t know how many of them graduated however.

I highly recommend NOT going to the basement of the union for the anime club. No offense to anyone that belongs there, but when I went there it smelled like nobody knows what a shower is. As previously stated, most of the competition there was pretty scrubby.

There isn’t really any arcades nearby neither. Used to be one near the mall, but got shutdown. Nearest one that has good competition (or any competition) is CTF. Can always use DC++ to find out who plays what as well since most gamers appear there from time to time.

Lol at the SBU letter.

@BIG BAD MOG, I’m graduating next year.

SBU is more of a Smash campus (yuck).

Yeah the Union sucks for competition and the atmosphere sucks. Now they’re all up into BlazBlue… heh anime club.

LOL, i saw that letter back when i was still at SBU. it turned out to be fake.

Dude, the Union is a horrible place. They’re into Smash and Blazblue, both of which are retarded games and they suck at em too. Plus the kids look like the biggest losers, and being there made me want to hurt them.

Quoted from my friend when we were playing tekken there (TV at SAC got jacked):

“If it wasn’t for the TV situation, I wouldn’t be caught DEAD here”

A lot of weeabos there too.

Here are some of the matches from our most recent battles:

Brett vs Doug

There are 11 matches up now, but by the end of the week there should be about 25 or 30.

I just need something to do for about 2 hours I get out of work at 2 in bohimia then I go to suffolk wich is dead. I am about to go bust head and blaz blue and brign a gas mask it seems thanks for the heads up lol. I wish I was good at mahvel I wouldplay you guys. I main sfiv atm

Quest to find any games at all today went bad went to sac 1st for the hell of it there was one kid watching the tv for guitar hero ppl. they where nice peeps he explained to me best bet to find games is the anime club and he warned me to expect prob just smash. SO i go looking for union or w/e never found it and ended up getting lost looking for my car lol.

Found it today lol. Didn’t play to much since they didn’t know me and didn’t want me to “brake” thier pads. Considering I have never touched BB on pad I won all the matches I played Except the 1st lol.

Scrubmaster_K is it true you holding SFIV session Thier??that what they told me

I’m gonna hold one Saturday. Probably gonna hold down the SAC basement TV around 2 PM and play some 3S/CvS2 until someone brings their PS3/360 for SF4. Planning to start SF4 around 4PM.

Yeeah. bglaugher, you’re the dude who snuck up on the anime club and spoke to me, I was like ‘wait wut, tourney peoples?’

To be honest, the anime club seriously smells something fierce, and it reeks of Melee or SSBB. Most people who play fighting games down there aren’t that good; Most just scrub or button mash, [like the people you fought earlier today, good going on the Tekken style, man. :P] save for ScrubMaster_K, who brings his own stick thank God, and possibly me.

The only games we got down there worth mentioning are:

SFIV [Rare; Very few people play well down there, not to mention I don’t think people like it since most gamers down there have a really odd look at fighting games]
BlazBlue [EVERYONE is into it since it’s easy and all anime-ish. Eh. Not gonna complain.]
CvS2 [Few people play it, none necessarily good except for two-three people]
3S [Gotta ask for this up – Most people down there don’t like it and consider it a ‘bad game’; More reason why I really don’t like the fighting game group people here.]
GGAC [This is usually on if CVS2 isn’t, and most people who play that down there scrub. Real bad.]
**VF5 **[lolwut]
Melty Blood: Actress Again [Usually only on Tuesday/Thursday brought down on someone’s laptop; Usually 3-6 PM.]
Random fighting games [Garou, Darkstalkers, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Rival Schools, Kinnikuman, MvC2] — [Usually on Fridays brought down by someone else around 12-4PM with his dreamcast and softmod PS2, depends on what he feels like bringing down, if he does.]

I also advise you bring your own controller/stick [360/PS2]. The club’s controllers are in really bad condition and have a really dirty/grimy feel to them lately, or if people are being complete idiots about their controllers ‘breaking’, they won’t let you share.

I really wish there was some other location that didn’t smell so bad and had more than one TV accessible to people save for the Commuter lounge in the SAC.

ScrubMaster_K: Yo, it’s Mon. If you go down around Friday, you can just take my 360 before I head out if you need to. Just take care of my system or something, and I’ll get it back next time you go down.

This one guy shook my hand the first time I went down there and asked, “New Guy?” I figured I’d see more players so I said yeah. Now, you’ll never find me in that excuse of a loser basement dwell and I want to dropkick that guy out of a flying car. And the others, can’t forget about the others.

we need to take over I am brining the lysol. lol I like the sac basment much better although the there one tv when I use to go nothing but chill people and its was much cleaner.
I just remeberd its my friend girls bday this weekend so I can’t Play sat :’(.
PPL pay CvS2 bought to brake out the rolento lol
Still training in mahvel I still have problems moving around the screen lol fcking hard Puch keeps coming out instead of dash.

Haha. Most of the people down in the Union can be a bit much, they usually do scare most people away after first impressions. If it’s not that, it’s the damn smell down there.

I wish there was another place, though. I’d like the SAC Commuter lounge, but every time I go, it’s always Guitar Hero or Rock band. If there was some place that was just fighting games, I’d probably move.

You can go with Doug the next time he goes to play Marvel at my house. I usually pick him up from campus, and I live about 15 minutes away, in Islandia.

Is Marvel one of the main fighting games you play?

Just wondering if there were any Tekken players on campus. I wanna get into it (not necessarily tourney-level). I need to get better reaction.

Doug told me that Tekken is his main game.
