Yeah I do a lot of maintence on controllers. Costs $50-$80 to replace a Neo - Geo controller (should say joystick) , so you learn real quick.
I’m not too serious of a player. I’m good enough to throw with the best, but prefer to just have fun. Might have to try some people in here. Think I might have a collection to entertain a few of them for a while. Dunno if I could teach you anything. Never played you as far as I know (XBox Live speaking of).

As far as Marvel goes…let’s keep it real, I’m terrible at that game, and the only real team I have any interest in has a terribly difficult learning curve and can’t make any mistakes (Strider/Doom).

So Dru, Rob, Steve, NKI, glen, and/or whoever from STL wants to come you are more than welcome to. It’s freeplay on ST, 3S, mvc2, and #R. if you want u can BYOB if u are of age (gunther’s liability). It’s kind of a Holiday/farewell to Jon/end of the year/play a lot of fighting games type of “shindig.” Hope to see some old faces and some new ones as well. :lovin:
On a different note I think andrew(722) is trying to plan a tournament in about a month so stay tuned to the Columbia thread for news and details as that unfolds. He said some Neb. peeps were gonna come so that outta be interesting.:wgrin:
KOF IS turning into Fatal Fury. Mark of the Wolves to be more percise. A lot of the control is feeling more and more Garou style. (i.e. Faster style) Not saying it’s exactly like it, but it’s moving towards it.
Garou is not A Fatal Fury game.
Real Bout 2 was the last FF game.
Interesting theory. Personally. I think they sacrificed the power of the Real Bout games (meaning I think if you put the Real Bout characters against the overpowered Street Fighter Vs. Series characters you would have an even match) for extra speed in the game. I did feel though Mark of the Wolves is a Fatal Fury game. Only thing I think most people could complain about is the lack of known characters. To me personally I enjoy that. Same characters over and over again makes people think it’s just a rehash of the same game. One of the typical gripes I hear about KOF.
Wish I could make it, but I’m going out of town on the 14th. :wasted:

Garou was made to compete with SF3.
No question, It does it quite well.
They pretty much copied the SF3 formula to the ‘T’.
Now, I do not consider Garou to be A FF game based on 3 things.

A horrible travesty has taken place today. Please mark it in your calenders.
It all started out with Jeauxi getting really cocky about how his dictator(Bison) and blue eyes(Honda) were going to own me. Nothing but trashtalk coming from Joe on the phone week, after week, after week…
Then today came along, he happened to be at home when I was in the neighborhood. First to ten, I played only Blanka with him playing Dictator, Blue Eyes, and even a guest appearance of old ken(Fire hand?).
None of them were a match for the Brazilian Beast, aka the Air Traffic Controller because he controls the skies in ST.

Interesting facts you brought up.
Can’t debate it. I wonder though that they left out the Garou Densetsu name cause of the bad reviews Street Fighter 3 originally got. When SF3 first came out all I ever heard about was that it was a sequel that did not have most of the recurring characters back from SF2. IMO this was a bold decision, but a major reason SF3 did not take off right away. SF3 might have been a fan favorite, but it was not a success. It seems like to get away from that SNKP tried to lose the name so it would not get the backlash Capcom got. To me though it does not mean this is not a sequel cause it follows the Fatal Fury canon storyline. (i.e. Street Fighter EX series is not a sequel to anything cause it’s not officially in the storyline). However I can see your gripe there. That’s my 2 cents on it.
The people I talk to never really got into the line sway. It was about as popular as Samurai Shodown’s Zoom effect (also in Art of Fighting as well) It seemed SNK was getting rid of the line sway in their other games. I am not 100% positive, but I think Kizuna Encounter (sequel to Savage Reign which had line sway) did not have line sway. Personally for me I think line sway it an interesting addition to fighting games, but not a necessity. It’s basically saying KOF is not KOF anymore since they went to the tag system. It feels wierd that they changed the system and sometimes it does not feel right, but that does not make me think it’s not KOF. Same with Mark of the Wolves. Changing systems around does not make me think it’s another series. It’s just a drastic change to the series. Granted though it was made to play like SF3 only better and I agree w/ you it feels better then sf3 on many levels. I said to my friends many times, It feels like Capcom tried to rip off SNK’'s fighting system and make the fighting deeper and more complex and it feels like SNK ripped off Capcom in simplifing their system while still making the game easy to pick up but a challenge to master like Capcom games are.
Not sure about the separate registery. Cannot really comment either way about something I don’t know. Might be right. Again thease are all opinions.
The series progression had significant changes as well. Real Bout and Real Bout Special feel like night and day to me. Granted it kept line changes throughout. The supers had more priority to them (i.e. Terry’s Power Geyser stretched arross the screen in Special where it went straight up in all the rest many moves were redone and made much more powerful in that game) . Plus S and P Power was introduced in Special along with most of the theme songs were finally redone to the themes that stayed for the characters for years to come. I might agree Real Bout - Real Bout Special might have been less of a change but IMO it was almost as drastic minus the lack of known characters in Mark of the Wolves.
Again though this is just an opinion I don’t know either way if Mark of the Wolves is considered a true sequel. I can see why you like the Other Fatal Fury titles better though. Everyone has a favorite series. Personally I am the villian here since my favorite series is KOF. Though I love Fatal Fury and own all except Real Bout 2.

Since Midwest Challenge is taking place some time in like late February right now, I’m shooting for the Gunther’s tournament in Columbia, MO to be January 7th-8th. If possible, I’d like to run #R, 3S and ST, preferably with #R on console unless both players agree to play on arcade (I hate console, but the fact is arcade is nonstandard for this game and that’s the way it’s always going to be) but I’m not entirely sure if Josh will allow me to run console.
If any of you guys have an interest in coming, please PM me. I can house a pretty decent amount of people, my house has three cats so if you’re allergic let me know and I can try to find alternative arrangements. I’m trying to work out the format so that if you just want to play in the main tournaments and nothing else, you can just show up on the 8th.
Also, I am open to pushing this thing back a week but I’d like to have that decision made by this time next week; if that works better for anybody, please let me know.
PS - I’m accepting all reasonable money matches with EX Bridget, anything goes except for shadow/gold and Kliff.
