Sticks for Joy: Charity Sticks (Pre-order SFJ shirts!)

i heard that too

I still think that we should press Child’s Play; I have a hard time seeing them rejecting us once they understand exactly what we are.

Personally, I would like to keep it somewhat gaming related (e.g., not donate it to Red Cross Japan or something that has nothing to do with our community). I say that because I think a lot of good can come from cross-promotion on gaming-related websites. E.G., SRK, Capcom-Unity, 8WR, Dustloop, etc., I’m sure would give us at least an article once they see that something is established, and understand the cause.

If Red Cross were to stick something on their website, while it would likely get pretty good exposure due to the sheer numbers, I’m not so sure that it’s right crowd that would express interest in the product. I still feel that the product has to be something attractive for someone to buy a ticket. People don’t often contribute out of the good of their heart anymore.

Just my two cents!

Greetings from Shenzhen, China, by the way. :stuck_out_tongue: Only one week left until I’m back home. I found a guy selling Qanba sticks in Huagiangbei and we played a few rounds of SSFIV - it was pretty fun.

how’s the progress going guys?

i’m done with the case, balltop and caps I just need to get it shipped back to voltech. I have been really busy but I want to get it in the mail by Monday. I have been hard at work on my Cyber stick so shipping It slipped my mind for a sec.

The NES Project is here

Here it is, I finally got around to paint this sucker.

The Modded NES

Inside a Super Mario Bros/ Duck Hunt game cart

I Keep the Power and Reset Buttons Stock

The Matching Controller

Side view of the controller

Back side of the controller

The Whole Package

What do you guys think?

Very nice. What did you use to paint it?

VHT brand Vinyl Dye. It really worked well on that plastic. Some of the color is uneven because there was alot of age/sun related discoloration to the original plastic.

Also encase you were wondering, that controller is not an original, but a very close in construction and quality, 3rd party replacement controller. Hence why it is lacking the Nintendo Logo and the text on the back side.

Thanks for doing something positive. Gamers all to often are getting a bad rap.

Hey hey hey - just checking in. It’s been a couple of months - surely we must have made some significant headway by now?
edit: Not seeing much activity from Nerr lately =(

I know, I sent him 2 messages that I completed my NES project. I already own a NES, so this one is just collecting dust.

Anyone seen Nerrage around as of late?

I talk to Lucas.
He will make Post after Math Finals.

ive been busy but i will ship the stuff back to voltech asap so that one just needs put together.

Hello, all. I’ve been gone for too long

Basicvally, I’ve been trying to get us a bank account, but the process is expensive, and I’ve been using my own money to front most things. I can get the donations out to start paying you guys, but anyways, with classes, finals, and all my stuff over, I’m back for everyone. Tech Talk, Sticks for Joy, etc.

I’m getting to my PMs now, and I’m going to get us back in shape. I’m really sorry for the delay in everything.

Lucas typed to me this:

Yes, those were costs. Also, needs $75 initial bank deposit for business account. I have an EIN for Sticks for Joy, and I may be able to open an account with that, but, registration with the state for Sticks for Joy would also be nice. But doing so requires a printed legal ad for two weeks in the newspaper, announcing our registration, which is $40 on top of $100 registration. Believe me, if I had the money sitting around, I would have already gotten it, just as I’ve bought our web hosting and sent a few parts out. I really appreciate all of the donors, and I haven’t taken a cent of your money, it still sits in the paypal, but without a way to take it out.

So we need to start a fund to get you rolling. I am sure all of us can spare a few bucks to help you out with sticks of joy.
Also I notice you have the same first name as me.

Darksakul = lukaskraD.
Is your name Lukas Krad?

It makes me happy to see commutativity of multiplication.

Maybe Lukas K. Rad?
