I can never turn my back on SSFIV. It’s too fun. I think MvC3 will be just as addicting and it’ll be a nice break from SSFIV when needed. Different strategies, look and feel. So I can see myself going back and forth.
trading ssf4 for in no doubt
Anyone who says they won’t touch marvel needs to do themselves a favour and at least rent it.
Cancel combos mean that lag execution fails will be drastically decreased, you can’t mash out srk through slight block string hiccups etc.
If you think Guile is boring to fight against then at least give MVC3 a look in.
I really dont like shortcuts, lenient input causing auto correct and mashing in general. I find that sf4 punishes you more for dropping a combo agaisnt mashers. Makes Gief and reversals stupid.
I’ll be playing both, but will play strictly MvC3 at first to get a feel for it. I’ve only played MvC2 a handful of times so I’m pretty new to VS.
it will never be more popular than SSF4 in japan, EVER. what they said was, its huge in the american scene, so its only right they compete to challenge the american players. jeez
ive never liked mvc. hated part 2. but ive never witness hype for a fightig game like this, so im going to have to put sf4 down for a while to really try and get into this 1. if i cant, its back to ssf4, if i can, ill be maining both!!
mvc3 and ah3 till mortal kombat.
After that… I dunno
I grew up on street fighter & never played marvel, so mvc3 will be my first but I’m looking forward to trying it out & learning a new gamestyle. I’ll admit mvc2 never looked that appealing to me in the past tho, too random and chaotic. SF4 feels more like chess, where marvel is whack-a-mole in strobe lights with the speed knob busted. We shall see tho
I’ll be getting Marvel but only because there’s a bunch of characters on there that look too fun to play (Taskmaster, Thor, Dr. Doom team here. Caped badasses team). No way will I be playing it as seriously as I do Street Fighter.
I’ll drop Marvel completely to focus on AE when it comes to consoles. Oni just has me so interested.
Super Turbo I can see as chess. (S)SF4 is more like reverse whack-a-mole with all the wakeup srk-ultra nonsense.
“In soviet russia, moles whack you”
I’m gonna pay full price for mvc3 just like I did for soul caliber 4 and tekken 6 and blazblue it’ll sit in the cabinet with all those other games while I play super.
I’ll be sticking with Super 4, yes, but come Feb. 15 I will be migrating over to MVC3 just for a little while. This is just primarily because of the whole deal with SSF4:AE and the impending update that the console Super 4s will inevitably get. I’m gonna be waiting for that, so may as well do up some MVC3 to pass the time until then.
Not really, SFIV is probably the most friendly fighting game out there since pocketfighter. Its annoying to learn 36 individual matchups, but the fact that down-forward + down-forward +punch = Shoryuken is just one of the many reasons SF4 is basically meant for n00bs.
Who is really a difficult character in that game? Gen, Ibuki, C. Viper, and Hakan (who just sucks more then he is technically challenging.) Seth got bumped down to medium difficulty as did most of the cast, and when you get to Ryu, Ken, and Balrog your just at braindead easy.
I love SFIV, but its not 3rd Strike, and its not mahvel. I’m going to come back to AE for Deejay of course, but until they release 3SO or Darkstalkers… fuck it.
MVC3 is pretty n00b friendly when you consider that its four button presses, down up, a>b> down S and maybe a bit more to do some otg stuff. The pacing is different, and footsies are less common. But KFC or just situations like three bars, means your character is dead, and depending on the team dynamic, your match is over.
Balanced teams are good, but lack flair, yet teams that gravitate towards one character (Dormamu w/ two assists) become lopsided when he’s dead. SFIV has nothing like that, SFIV has an ultra system that rewards you for taking damage. X-factor feels more like its for the winner and the underdog, unlike the ultra.
I know what you’re getting at in terms of shortcuts and I completely agree that the way they’re implemented here sucks and I’m on your side on that issue, but :df::df::p: doesn’t give you a DP.
That’s probably why the people who won’t touch Marvel don’t want to… :wonder:
Never understood what a “braindead easy” character really meant to be honest…
If they’re so easy why aren’t they winning every tournament? Granted Ryu won 2 Evos but I think that’s more of a result of Daigo beasting.
Thats just what they do, give it a month or two and they’ll go back whining about shit like normal.
Between the casual players that have moved onto COD: Black OPs (or whatever) and those that play fighters but like to moan and make excuses about why they lose to ‘scrubs’, a lot of players have or are dropping SSF4.
As I see it it’s not a problem or fault with the game - the casuals just move from game to game anyway and the moaners will never be content or admit that the problem lies with them.
I’m sticking with SSF4 but I’ll play MK9 for fun when it hits and I’ve even thought about trying the dusty copy of Tekken 6 I bought ages back just for something different. SSF4 has so much depth and I haven’t had enough time to get really good at it, so I don’t really want to start learning another complex game from scratch.
You bet I’ll give mvc3 an honest try. It’s going to be a quality fighting game with characters and graphics I like. My improvements in ssfiv are pretty small now, after thousands and thousands of matches and however many hours in the training room. It’ll be fun to learn something from scratch–and it’s obvious the game is going to be well designed, so all that time spent learning will be rewarded with teh funz.
Never was a big fan of MvC so there won’t be any transitioning for me. I’ll try it out and all but it’s just not my cup of tea.
