I need to know people’s opinion. I’m planning on buying Anthology and I want to know which version should I spend my time playing. I don’t want to waste time on a lesser version of the game.
From what I have heard so far the remkaes of the alpha games sucked and made them worse, so is it safe to say I should stick with Alpha 2 over Alpha 2 Gold?
They’re both good games. Strangely, A2G seems to have a bad reputation around these parts, despite its lack of a real scene – tournament or otherwise. All A2G did was shift around the character rankings and removed a couple of the really monstrous Custom Combos, but other than that, they’re pretty similar. I recommend both.
Neither of them have a very big scene, if at all. So it doesn’t matter as there’s no tourney standard.
Try both, play what you like better. Or just play both.

anyway playing any games on alpha collection wouldnt be worth your time spending.
I’d choose Alpha 2, better versions of Ryu, Ken, Charlie and Rolento, then ignore the last part of Muffinman’s post.

I personally like Alpha 2 over any of the other Alpha’s found on the Anthology disc. Too bad there isn’t a serious scene for ANY Alpha game in the US, and there’s only very small pockets of competition in Japan (compared to other scenes).
