Stick and PCB advice - bought a bum stick

So I bought a hitbox style fight stick but it is giving serious mis-inputs where I am clearly and cleanly hitting the correct buttons, but it is giving other combinations of buttons. If I hit mp + hp I am getting mp+mk or mp+hk entry.

Is this a PCB issue? If so, what is a good PCB I can look to replace mine with? I opened it up and all of the wires seem to be properly connected without anything crossing over, I can only assume it’s just a cheap board.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Brook UFB (Universal Fighting Board) is the best you can get right now I think.

What kind of stick did you buy?

Pcb selection depends on your system needs.

Brook UFB covers them all, except for retro consoles of course.

If you’re only gonna be playing on PC you can get a ZD Encoder (supports DirectInput only)

If you’re gonna be playing on PS4, Brook PS4 or PS4+ Fighting Board (Both of them also support PS3 and PC via Xinput, PS4+ board offers audio support)

If you want total last gen and current gen coverage, the Brook Universal board supports PS3/4, Xbox 360/One, PC Xinput and even Wii U and Switch(?)

And that’s extra money spent if he only needs PS3/ps4/PC for example.

I play primarily on PC, but want compatibility with PS4 if possible. I think the Brook UFB looks like a great choice, and it looks easy to set up. I like the connectors that are screws rather than the plugs.

I did a search for ZD Encoder and saw this:

It says the guy stopped making these in 2013. I see this listing here for the same thing. This is a PCB? I would just need this and I should be able to get my hitbox working properly? It’s a hard price tag to argue with…

Also between these two, I am already using sanwa buttons would I want the Japan style controls? It gives the measurement difference in the connector, and this is referring to the connector to the buttons right? Or am I misunderstanding this?

Thank you for your continued assistance!

The difference in price between the Brooks board that only does PS and PC , vs the one that does ALL modern consoles is hardly anything. The brook UFB is the fastest latency wise and you never know when you may want to play on another console at a friends house or at a tourney. If you’re gonna upgrade, get the Brook UFB. Period.

Correct, it’s a very basic PCB, but if it suits your needs then go for it.

You’ll want Japanese style controls (assuming you’re using a hitbox with Japanese buttons), but since it comes with a 5-pin lever harness and you’re using a hitbox, you’ll need additional wires. Luckily focusattack sells them seperately: https://www.focusattack.com/spare-japanese-style-110-harness-for-zero-delay-usb-encoder-pcb/

However, since you want to cover PC AND PS4, you’ll need something else; either the Brook PS4 board, PS4+ board or the Universal board.

Is this the one you are recommending for PC + PS4 use? I think I can safely say I won’t play on an xbone, but I think between ps4 and pc I’m likely to switch based on who I play with (or where I play at)

Yes, there’s also this one (you can get an optional breakout board which has screw terminals and a USB-B jack for a solderless install) https://www.focusattack.com/brook-ps3-ps4-fight-board-pcba/

The only difference between that one and the one you linked is a lack of audio support and different form factor, among other things.
