I really liked this week’s podcast. It was pretty casual, cool and chill, just like when gootecks and combofiend were here…extremely helpful and just all around chill dudes.
The thing that interested me most was the whole unity thing. The WC is definitely more open and united than the EC…and as gootecks told me, it showed last weekend. We need to come together and improve our game all around…as opposed to just thinking of what will win us tournaments locally (e.g. not helping players get around gimmicks/paralysis in game improvement).
The EC should definitely look out harder for each other and talk more. Forget the whole state vs state thing in the EC. It doesn’t always have to be NY vs ______ when matches come up. Cali most likely doesn’t have this problem because they’re just Cali, but I guess north and south divide them.
I also like the part of the events idea…I would like to see some underdogs get a chance to shine, watch other than top player matches…and top players alike, I still love watching them play. Maybe we can have a newcomer event…best student or whatever, that would be hype even though it’s out of the regular, I don’t see why not .
It was awesome to have gootecks and combo down for the weekend, thanks for attending and the good times, see yall later.
This podcast was kind of a wake up call…I do talk with certain people about the game, but not to all of the people I should be talking to. The part that really got me in the podcast was when Combo said that me and Hold Dat don’t talk to each other…and I thought about it. It was true. We go to the same arcade, we play the same character, we travel together, we see eachother at least twice a week and we’re ridiculously good friends. But I never took the time to just sit down with him and talk really in-depth about the game, and I’m sure we would have both been leveling up so much faster. In general we don’t have the comradery we should be having on the EC.
Another part of the podcast I liked was when Combofiend talked about his session with Warren, just 2 hours straight with no words, just quiet, playing the game as fierce as you can. Now that console version is out, many people should be doing this…is sounds so hardcore.
I believe this should be a sticky at FGD. There are shows on 3S, shows on SF4, and shows on teh history of competitive gaming lke he ones with Valle, Omni and Dogface. The Combofiend one was much more about tourneys in gerenal than any game in particular.
The show is very good. Bunkei’s show (sticky in FGD) is also very good. I think the community would benefit a lot for having more access to it. If Gootecks is alright with it, my humble suggestin to mods is to make it happen.
Another idea would be to have links on the blog page for all radio shows (Bunkei, Gootecks and DenjinVid)
