for the looks, in the combo on oro when he floats everytime to the same side it looks like just the right distance to end it with a ex fukiage, just cause its easier, I guess.
p.s.: if you didnt notice by now, I dont play makoto, lol

Great podcast! Can’t wait for you to speak to other top 3rd players Gootecks.
“I’m not really a gamer, but rather a 3rd strike player.” Pretty much describes it to me, devoting time is the most important there is to be good.
nice interview…
interesting to hear how he got started it was sort of like “Pyrolee’s Origins”
cant wait to hear Kofiends interview.
Great stuff. I find it really interesting that Pyro says he’s not gonna play SF4. I mean I sort of think of myself in that way too, I don’t really play many games, and have been devoted to 3s for a while now…but this is Street Fighter 4!
Hey when you start interviewing other people is there gonna be an option to submit questions?
I understand totally where Pyrolee is coming from. He just doesn’t seem interested right now in what SFIV has to offer. If I recall the interview correctly…he didn’t say he’ll never play SFIV. He’s just not gonna be one of the guys lined up to play when it hits like a rabid animal that just found a steak. It’s not that important to him. It doesn’t even really have a tournament scene yet since the game is still in the process of coming out. Plus…the US has soooo long to go in 3S and he’s definitely more interested in taking US to that next level in 3S than he is messing around with SFIV.
He talks about getting better in 3S like he knows there’s so much more the game has to offer. Not just for the US…but even in Japan and he knows it’ll stay popular as long as Japan and US are still hungry for it. I say that’s very just of him considering there’s a ton of slobbering SF fans who are just itching to play SFIV just for the sake of playing it.
I mean a lot of people are really hype for SFIV but there’s definitely some fighting game players who just aren’t into the hype of it and the nature of the game just simply isn’t what they were looking forward to in a new SF. I remember reading someone’s sig which recalled BAS saying “I think SFIV is the suck”. It looks good definitely but I’m not really dying to play it quite as hard as some others and 3rd Strike is still way more important to me as far as a competitive game is concerned. Then of course you have people like BAS who just think it sucks.
Haha sounds like me and sergio we constantly swap strats from each other all of the time. Yeah I also agree with your point about understanding the players mindset being more important rather then just the numbers. To be honest, I felt this podcast is amazing advice for high or low level game play.
It also gets me hype to go and play harder then ever…no homo lol.
Well as inspirational as this podcast was I feel this commercial can be related to 3s as well.
He says that to sound cool, hes gonna rock that shit day and night like all of us…
awesome podcast, can’t wait to hear other top players point of view 3s :woot:
donated some more. can’t wait to hear sextaro’s interview!
great listen. I think the best piece of advice was learning other characters for the sake of learning how to beat them with your main, rather than learning them just to have a counter character. I feel like I always do better when I really sit around and study my bad match ups rather than just walking into tourneys unprepared.
id say my biggest fault is underestimating people. i think some of my worst losses is because I didnt take someone seriously. with good players, i just try to play my best, in days gone by I used to psyche myself out but not so much anymore.
its just too bad knowing half the stuff that pyro spoke about isnt nearly as hard as actually applying it when the situations arise.
i don’t think he’s saying that to sound cool at all. not everyone is interested in sf4
Pyro’s actually a really nice and humble guy. I don’t think he would say that just to be cool. As you probably heard in the podcast, he even states that he never really played Street Fighter (except a little World Warrior) before getting into 3rd Strike. The SFIV thing is understandable because I know that he, as well as a lot of the socal/FFA players, are just really into taking 3rd Strike to the next level right now.
And to be honest, I’m not getting blue balls over SFIV either. It just doesn’t seem that hot to me.
oh well i just tought somebody like pyro who has been playing 3s for around 10 years would be exited to play the next installement.
I know i will go hard over SF4 even tought 3s and cvs2 are the only 2 fighters I really ever played. But i will still have to work on 3s because 3s just seems like it dont matter how good you become there is always and I mean ALWAys something more you can do or learn.
I might retire from 3s and focus on sf4 when I can red parry at least 3 times per round
yes.
A lot of good 3S players play it almost exclusively. For fighting game veterans, it can actually be really awkward getting used to the game system because you have to unlearn a lot of habits from games that don’t have parrying.
Thanks for the feedback guys, we really appreciate it. The new episode is up: Denjin Video Blog. This week’s guest is 5 Star.
I just realized that comments on the blog were disabled but now they’re not so please leave comments, questions and feedback on the blog. Thanks!
I think this is true of Marvel and many other fighting games. From what I can tell, the socal scene is full of 3s players who like the 3s mechanics. Some of those mechanics are the same in other SF games, and some aren’t. Marvel players aren’t going to drop Marvel for SF4, and the players who truly enjoy 3s for being 3s like pyro won’t drop it for SF4.
good shit im getting this right now…ima start saying GOOD LUCK to you at SBO everytime you upload another one =P
Well said …QFT
Listened to first half of the interview with 5 star
Really good stuff, cuz I’m learning Ken seriously now.
he def is right about the mentor thing though…if someone is gonna ask questions about 3s…keep it on the field and not in someones personal life…i know how 5 star feels…he rly has an interesting style when it comes to mind games and such
