If you’re a student try statravel.com. Pretty good deals on there. The best thing to get a good price is to buy it early, at least 4 months in advance.
well sbo 2009 date hasn’t been announced yet, so dont buy anything yet. also ive heard different methods of buying tickets but make sure to shop around. (travel agents, directly through airlines, travel websites like orbitz.com cheapoair.com.)
this year i went directly through us airways website. my ticket was $835 plus about $250 taxes and fees. also i bought my ticket about 2 weeks before sbo, talk about procrastinating. haha
1g is the least of what its going to cost you. probably more with tax and airline fees, fuel charges etc.
honestly i didnt eat one bad meal in japan. everything is good! :tup:
the only advice i can give everyone interested in going next year is to befriend some players that will be there and that also have been to japan before. If it wasnt for that I would have been lost in shinjuku station for my whole trip. haha

Did you mean Akasaka? Asakusa is on the opposite end of the Ginza line from Shibuya, that’s a 30 min ride each way. Not convienent at all if you’re frequenting Shinjuku & Shibuya.
I second this. It’s a great hotel for the price. Shibuya Excel is also super convienent for a bit more cash, since it’s directly above Shibuya Station (and the Tokyu Food Show). If you really have money to throw away, the New Otani in Akasaka is a really nice place to stay (5 stars).
Usually seems dead during the week, but you can play a lot of top players at Shibuya Sportsland on Tuesday nights from around 19:00-24:00. They have weekly tournaments for 300 with unlimited free-play until closing.
yo whats up chris. yes shibuya sportsland is good for those 300 free play. Thats where i got to play mov for like 40 games in a row. yes even with his broken hand haha.
also i will add to everyone elses advice and say STAY IN SHINJUKU. stay anywhere in shinjuku and you will be golden.

I’d also suggest getting a Suica (???) or PASMO (???) card for JR/Tokyo Metro travel. The machines are by almost every JR entrance and have English instructions. Buying a ticket for every subway trip is mundane, you can also use Suica for a lot of shops and vending machines.
