Justin Wong’s confidence can be thought by others as arrogant… but damn… the guy is simply gifted! Reaction is ever so crucial! I believe team both SBO teams will whoop ass this year!

THERE is truth to this:lovin:

Am I missing something?

justin is a nice guy

Ditto…he rly is a gifted player…i gotta see what his new style brings to the japs…plus this years evo too…lets GO TEAM East meets West!!!

i hope, you, gootecks will be bringing some new flavor =P

pull of an RX and RAPE THERE SHIT!!!

He’s been to SBO before

i know justin has when i say new style i meant now turle like as he used to be

Justin Wong’s “cockiness” is Sesame Street compared to most of the other folks that solely play Marvel and aren’t even as good as he is in it. Justin just knows that he’s good at games and is always looking for a bigger challenge or to fatten his wallet a bit. You have to be a little cocky/hungry to really get somewhere in the fighting game scene. You gotta want that shit and I think that’s what Justin’s got. Other than being insanely good at games.

He is basically the biggest name in fighting games on the east coast and well…probably the US in general. It’s tough to stay consistant especially on the East Coast where arcades and fighting games aren’t what they used to be. He plays hard and smart though which allows him to get the extra spending money he needs to get across the US and keep his skills sharp. You can’t stay good just playing in one spot on the EC all the time unless all your comp is equally as good.

I really liked the Justin Wong interview. He sounds like he definitely knows that he has talent for fighting games but doesn’t kid himself when he sees something he has to work on. Sounds like he nails down his weaknesses and addresses them. If you know how to utilize training mode effectively there is no excuse to have poor execution skills, IMO.

plus its good to see that all the top players are moving on and working on red parrying stuff

i myself have started to do it ever since the kuroda vs ino vids…seeing japanese aggressiveness and skill like that it just inspired me to work on red parrying and reaction skills…but i would have to disagree about what justin said about the japanese not having good reaction…i mean for them to be doing things like red parrying and hit confirming with ease rly says a LOT about there reaction…90% of the time they hit confirm its on reaction and they barely miss it

great interview w/ justin. best one yet imo.

100% of my hit confirms are on reaction. What other way is there? The Japanese aren’t inherently physically better at fighting games than us. Although, certain things like red parrying a target combo from Ken seem to require quick reaction.

i dont think that requires quick reaction any different than a hitconfirm (maybe not a brain dead easy one though…), its just it takes a good eye to branch options that quickly, with something. imo any average player can red parry that, as long as they are looking for it.

i dont think any top players have discussed branching options actually, which i find to be incredibly difficult, having a focused mind is one thing, but having a focused mind that can handle 3 different situations quickly is another.

Is it just me or is Amir’s interview cut short? It just ended out of nowhere, I use WMP btw, it was like an hour and 40 mins or so in and it just cuts off. Weird

yeah which is why im disagreeing with what justin said about the japanese not having good reaction skills
