Steam Greenlight: 2 SRK Favorites have been Lit!

This thread is a bit of an experiment that will probably involve a lot of continued support by me. So bear with me here. My hope is that SRK, the powerhouse that it is, can boost some great games up so they can get an eventual release on Steam. I guess I should explain what Greenlight is then huh?

So you guys post up games that you think deserve our attention. If enough us dig it (by showing our support with likes on your post) it will go into the OP. Once a game in the OP gets approved by Valve I’ll move into the second post in this thread.

Spoiler

Heaven Variant
A horizontal 2.5D shmup that looks like a sequel to Square’s classic Einhander. Powered by Unreal and three dudes in Texas. It has the looks and the sound and hopefully the gameplay to be a real hit. And after the joy that was Jamestown I think it’s time we give western devs more support to make awesome shmups. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92965039

Escape Goat - This has been up on XBLA for a while and made its PC debut in an indie bundle, still it would be great to have on Steam. Can never have too many oldschool platformers, especially when they are this well regarded: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92951461

Toki Remake (HD) - HD version of the classic side scroller Toki. You’re a man turned into an ape and your mate has been jacked by an evil wizard and you must save her. This game has been in the works for about 3-4 years now, but the developers (Golgoth Studios) keep getting stiffed publishers. These are the same guys who are developing Magical Drop V: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93343853

**Shante **- Wayforward’s darling original IP, Shantae, could be headed to Steam via Greenlight! I bought the iOS port last year and it’s a pretty awesome platformer but the touch controls just weren’t up to the task. This game is already at 1% so I’m sure it’ll make it. We need a PC soundtrack is baller too!http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=94588574

GREENLIT

Routine - First person survival horror set during the 80’s on the moon with multiple endings and permadeath. Also the first horror game that I am aware with Occulus Rift support (Doom 3 really doesn’t count): http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92985806

Project Zomboid - I figure anyone who has an interest in PC/horror gaming has already heard of this. Basically Project Zomboid is a sandbox survival horror game, the free alpha version floating around provided tons of hilariously tragic emergent gameplay stories: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92916900

The Greenlight system is certainly going to have to go through a few revisions (there needs to be a way to only have legit submissions up and not troll crap, down voting is silly, etc…), but I am really liking the promise it shows. Here are my top three:

So now devs have to pay $100 to get on green light. Smart. Should cut out the junk.

Updated the OP by adding every game but the one above me. I’m personally not too keen on it. Looks a bit dry and I don’t mean graphically. I like the concept of the two planes but not switching between characters. If some of you like it though I’ll gladly add it to the OP.

Interstellar Marine - Terribly cliche name but the technology on hand is dope. Especially the voice chat stuff where your voice is projected in the game. Interstellar Marines is an sci-fi FPS action and adventure game with an original and unpredictable storyline featuring single and cooperative gameplay, with heavy focus on realism. Set in a believable future, you play as a newly enlisted special forces soldier, equipped with the latest in weaponry, armor and gadgets that will embark on a breathtaking adventure. A world filled with challenging scenarios and heart pounding situations that in time draws you deeper into an ongoing plot centered around first contact with another sentient species.

The Real Texas
A game that blends in Legend of Zelda, Ultima VI, and a surreal environment.

Have you thought of creating a collection on Steam with all our picks on it? SRK workshop might make life easier. I want to see more Visual Novels on Steam but the current selection all look like ass.

How do I go about doing that Hawkingbird? I’m a part of the SRK group now actually.

On Greenlight simply go to the collections tab and you’ll see a create collection button on the right under the search function.

Depth Hunter
An underwater exploration game. Demo is available on the page

If this ever gets released on Steam with netplay, then someone here needs to host an SRK tournament:

Too bad it needs to be released within the next month or two or else it will lose a lot of its relevancy.

Also, I want to play as FDR. In his wheelchair.

Example of the awesome music. I mean this is the damn file select. Reminds me of the beautiful years at Sega and Capcom.

Good shit. I’ll toss out a few more upvotes for games on the SRK list I haven’t gotten to when I log on.

Steam Greenlight’s first official game!

“Retro” style games taking after VVVVVV are becoming a fad now, for better or for worse, but this looks fairly fun nontheless:

Thread hasn’t been updated in forver, but hey, real 8-Bit

Kenshiro vs. Rolento? An homage to tons of NES/SNES-era side scrollers.

This looks fun too

Good to support the guy.
