This makes me very happy since I hate some of the themes myself…and the stage BGM thats out sounds waay better.
It’s a throwback to Marvel vs. Capcom 1, in fact most of the themes for characters who are returning from that game are remixed versions of those themes. (I think Ryu and Morrigan are the exceptions I know of)

Where did the source on Jill and Shuma’s themes come from? I can only find them on YouTube
Chances are someone ripped them from the game. I mean we already know they are on disc.
Just listened to the three available BGM tracks. Yeah…they pretty much own 90% of the character themes. Going to listen to the rest after I finish the download. One problem with the character themes too is that while there may be some that are truly outstanding, you have to suffer through the “not so hot” or downright awful character themes once those characters hit the screen. Given the choice between having 1-2 good tracks for 20% - 50% of each round vs an extremely solid track the whole fight, I know what I’ll be picking.
Asgard pretty much kicks all kinds of ass.
Demon Village is somewhat lethargic. Reminds me of something you would hear in a Nightmare before Christmas.
Hand Hideout sounds like a “Heroic” Akuma variation or something from Samurai Showdown.
Helicarrier is another very heroic theme with a sense of urgency.
Tricell laboratory is downright menacing and would fit on either of the recent “Superman Batman” movies. Or rather, it’s also a bit reminiscent of the Wesker and Chris themes combined.
Yeah, there’s pretty much no contest. The BGM on average is so much better than the character themes and it’s some of the best music Capcom has done since SF2.

Also, I’m loving Galactus’ theme.

Sweet thanks. Danger Room wasn’t in the compilation. Although, it’s actually probably the weakest of the BGM, but it’s not really bad and reminds me of a character remix. Almost like Amaterasu lite.

Do these stage themes actually pop up during gameplay? From the vids I’ve seen, matches start w/ the 2nd player’s first character’s theme.
You can pick to have either stage or character themes in the options.
It’s an alternate setting.
And people say that this game needs more options/modes… sseeessh

Easily one of the best pieces of the OST.
They are all pretty good, I just didn’t feel like I needed to comment on tracks that everyone could hear at the time before the new link. It’s definitely a track that can’t be mistaken for any other.
As a huge fan of the Final Fight soundtrack in all it’s various incarnations, I found the Metro City bgm to be the biggest disappointment since Haggar’s theme. There are so many great Final Fight themes, and instead of a subway or Andore Cage match remix, we get a hybrid of Guy and Cody’s theme and a generic urban sounding theme. Just my tastes mind you. Overall I like the ost.
