Ok guys so I played a tiny bit of umvc at release then put it down but after a few games at a friends I’ve got the hype for it. I’m playing taskmaster with normal arrows/iron man with repulsor/spencer with slant shot. Here are my first few games online. I know I need to hit the lab to get combos down but if you can see any particularly clear holes in my game please let me know!
No need to slowly back up when your opponents on the other side of the screen. Either dash back (ATK+ATK+Back, or just back twice), or stand your ground and zone him out.
Speaking about zoning, Speed it up and use it in conjunction with assists. You seemed to only be using Aim Master horizontal, and using it very slowly when you could of been using it in conjunction with IM’s assist along with Parabolic aim master as well.
3)Don’t hesitate or make your SHIELD SKILLZ telegraphed. Go for it with confidence. If they block it, cancel into shield sting.
Use your assists (Repulsor mainly) more often when you do things; you have two great assists supporting you.
At 4:30 you decide to DHC into Taskmaster when Iron Man would have gotten the kill himself. It’s a waste of meter, unless you really wanted Taskmaster in for the incoming character.
At 7:52 you punished Viper’s with Bionic Arm, which was nice, but you could’ve DHCed to kill. Similar situation at 11:58.
One thing you need to start doing a lot more is canceling you b. H (shield skills) into qcf+a (sharp sting) it makes it virtually safe. Also with task master use your angled arrows more both on ground and in the air. Try to predict if they are going to stay grounded, jump, or super jump. Force them to approach, you rarely have a reason to approach with tasky. I also recommend switching spencer to point, he benefits sooooo much more with taskys arrows and ironmans beam, and if you get to learn him well enough, most of his combos are one combo kills.
I noticed you would get an air throw and not capitalize, as soon as you air throw someone hit down foward M+H super there ass so they don’t think they are free to Jump all over the place. With spencer you have the approach half right, sometimes you wanna horizontal zip, but most of the time call your assist and do a angled zip into a block string, (assuming you point him on point).
Sharp sting is qcf+s right? The command throw? I watched the taskmaster rehab yesterday and saw that was a good tool! Yeah when I re-watched the vid that dhc from IM to task was pointless. So you think spencer is a bad anchor? I have him last as I feel more comfortable playing with him without assists if I have to but I’m sure I can unlearn that. I was using repulsor as an anti cross up teleport/air dash OH tool, I’m more used to beam assists but with taskmasters arrows I thought it might be daft having 2 similar assists. Yeah man, Newcastle England. Thanks for all the input guys, these matches were just cut out of a 2.5 hour training mode session so I’m not just trying to learn on the fly, actually putting the effort in!
