Starcraft II!

Actually, it’s been confirmed that only those three races will be playable.

"The panel also confirmed that the sequel will have only the three factions of the Protoss, Terrans, and Zerg; there will be no fourth faction. To address another question, the panel suggested that the resource management system in the sequel will feature “some enhancements, but it will still be very similar to the resource management in Starcraft, and just as important.” "

It’s probably not the marines creating the shields, but a new unit with a special ability to shield other units.

He’s talking about actual shields built into the marine armor.

About that, it’s probably just an aesthetic feature.

yep. the thing i liked about starcraft… each race is very unique. they wont put shields on marines, its unique for protoss

They could maybe just be medics since the medic sprite had a shield in SC1. I won’t speculate too much, and just go with everything that gets revealed when they’re revealed heh.

I made a starcraft thread in the other games sub forum for swapping b.net handles and such. I for one am trying to get less rust at sc1 in order to get hype for sc2. SRK starcraft tourney 1$ buy in winner gets premium would be what’s up.

Starcraft 2

Yea I agree with Kimterran, they will try to keep balance of races as a number one priority.

Ah, I just finally looked at the screenshots more closely…and Marines do have shields. Maybe they’re gonna be like footmen in WC3? A way to block piercing attacks, or long ranged attacks? Maybe used as an upgrade…or just an upgrade image, hmm, who knows?

aww man… i cant wait… finally another good RTS. Blizzard never fails me

SC2 + C&C3 = old school RTS is BACK

awesome

I’ve been watching the vids on you tube today and man this looks good. I actual started paying Starcraft for the first time last week and I am slowly getting onto it. Granted it’s Starcraft 64 but still it’s pretty fun.

Hey does anyone know what it said in Korean during the Trailer? whatever it was it made that crowd go nuts.

It said

“Current Status : —Active—”

It’s hilarious people are ending their WoW subscriptions as if this game is going to come out within the next nine months. I bet the battle.net numbers for StarCraft are increasing rapidly everyday.

Thats it ? LOL

I hope they add an indicator to alert if there are builder units idle…like they did for WC3.

…Yeah…pretty much…
Though, I think the reason why they started going crazy was because it was more of a foreshadowing of what’s to come, and I think some people just knew that it would be Starcraft 2, which is why the crowd went nuts.

lol, that’ll be good, so Starcraft 2 has a huge community…hopefully Blizzard upgrades their Battle.Net servers…man, just think about it, there’s going to be like, what? I’m guessing 5 million plus Korean players on the very first day, and that’s just Korea alone, then you’ve got all the people who just know about Blizzard because of WoW, so then they jump on the bandwagon, and who knows how many that will be, but i’m guessing anywhere from 3-5 million, maybe more, so at the very least, the servers are gonna be loading anywhere from 8 million plus people in the first few days and steadily growing, but ofcourse, it will decline, but still…those servers better be stacked…like DDDDs or some shit.

Man, I totally agree with you on that, but I think that’s a bit unecessary when it comes to Starcraft. I mean, in WC3, you have 10-13 workers the whole game…10-13 workers don’t even cut it in Starcraft, so having a worker idle indicator would be annoying because even in pro games, like let’s say…BoxeR - i’ve seen a bunch of his replays where he leaves out 5-10 workers just around his base, which I don’t know if he did on purpose or not, but who knows, yet he still won, so maybe they shouldn’t add the indicator unless they fully revamp the whole style of mining minerals.

I’ve been saying it sense I first set foot in WoW the first day it came out. If Blizzard ever made SC2, half the WoW players would IMMEDIATELY quit and migrate to it.

Probably temporarily, but still. For a few months, WoW is gonna be a barren wasteland heh.

And Blizzard isn’t stupid… I’m sure they are well aware of this. They will probably time its release during a dry spell of WoW, after whatever new expansion has lost its luster and people are bored with WoW anyway. Then everybody will buy SC2, and Blizzard will pump it up for a few months, maybe up to a year. Then when that interest starts fading, BAM, new WoW expansion pack to lure them back to WoW.

Blizzard has got it MADE. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

if sc2 is a good, deep, and balanced game, interest will not fade. the tournament scene will keep it alive and very healthy, kinda like with koreans and starcraft right now. the casual players will go back to WOW but this will create a new generation of dedicated and competitive pro gamers. and of course, the casual players like me will also sit on the side lines and devour all the replays. assuming of course, they do a good job.

here’s hoping

Sounds like a great plan.

haha me too.

If anyone here is an active player in Broodwar and lookin for some regulars to play with, let me know :wgrin:.

the 1st time SC came out it was un-balanced but then the patchs came out to fix that.
