That line right there pisses me off, first of all thats a bullshit statement. How the fuck is planning to break the single player campaign into 3 parts in any way messing with the balance of multiplayer? It’s not! People keep saying that Zerg needs all their old units to be effective in SC2, but thats such a scrub statement I don’t even know where to begin. In Beta zerg could dominate with the same exact units they have now, without lurkers or scarabs or defilers. All they need is a few tweaks to get them back to a solid level. But no, let’s blame the fact that down the road blizzard is going to provide us with another awesome single player campaign and some awesome new units for multiplayer on why zerg is having some trouble right now.
So in short, stop with the incessant whining “Oh blizzard you’re so greedy fuck you bobby kotick” that permeates the internet. Do you realize how fucking shitty SC would have been without Brood War? Do you realize how incredibly unbalanced that game was at release? I’m guessing you either don’t, or you do but you just want to go around slinging shit at blizzard anyway to make you feel better.
Zerg will be playable before HOTS, it’s not going to take new units to fix zerg, it’s just going to take fixing the existing units and giving zerg back the swarm feel that they’re missing
Not to mention the fact that other races will get additional units too…
Funny thing the lurker is already in the game but I dont think I saw it anywhere in the campaign.
There’s no reason to think Blizzard is holding out for the expansion to “balance” the game, they’re just holding off on making knee jerk reactions like they did all throughout the beta. That’s the volatile nature of their betas, but they’ve never treated their retail releases the same.
Now people are used to weekly radical changes, but fact is that they need to let dust settle a little bit and make changes a little bit at a time so the game can evolve and become a maturely deep game, not just a game where the strats are constnatly changing with the weekly or monthly patch and mechanics are never as deeply delved into

I wish gom would post the interviews so they appear after the games or just rename them to “interviews of blah blah” because Artosis only interview winners and its a pretty big mistake when they go through the trouble of making the games spoiler free.

I’m starting to realize that a lot of the imbalance in SC2 is coming from the map pool. Nearly every map on the ladder is small with many choke points which obviously favor Terran. The most balanced maps in BW were usually large macro oriented maps. Of course this draws the problem that even if we change the map pool to those kind of maps, how in the hell are we gonna get enough workers to saturate all that? Zerg already has a problem with having a smaller army since most if it’s supply is taken up by drones, this would only intensify the situation.
Yeah I agree blizzard maps suck. Can’t just put rocks all over the place to make good maps. You can see this if you watch the Iccup TV League where they use custom maps.
