If anyone thinks the tank nerf is gonna have a huge effect on TvZ then you might want to play a few games using the same exact strats and see how everything still plays out the same. All that’s really changed is that it takes a few more tanks to reach a critical mass. Once that mass is reached zerg units will simply die before ever getting in range to do damage. Now I’m not advocating that tanks need to be nerfed, I think their damage was fine where it was. Zerg just needs some options to break that critical mass like the other two races can. Now this was actually a problem in BW as well but there was defilers with dark swarm to help break that critical mass and allow units to get in range to do damage. If the infestor was allowed to use all of their abilities while burrowed it would solve this problem.
Imagine this late game scenario. T has an army of marine/thor with tank/medivac support. Z has a ultra/ling army with infestor support. Typically if you try to run your ultra/ling army into T (even with a good flank) your forces will just melt away before getting serious damage in. Now imagine if the infestor can use all their abilities while burrowed. They could fungal growth the army to hold them in place, soften them up, and make the medivacs burn through their energy. They could neural parasite the thors and focus fire down the tanks. They could even burn any remaining energy on infested terran to draw fire away from your troops. Of course T can just scan as soon as they notice random spells coming towards their troops of even just bring a raven along (which is common off of a 1/1/1 build), but at the very least Z will get a chance at engaging those balls of death.
I am just getting raped by mass mutas and speedlings. The lings I can handle with chargelots but stalkers suck against the mutas. What’s a good counter except for psi storm? This happened fairly early despite the fact that I was harassing him as well. Also he was a diamond so I was blown away by how early he got his 2nd expo up and yet had a ton of lings to protect it.
Seriously, this patch is helping zerg A TON. Don’t have to worry about 2 gate garbage, and zerg can actually fight against Terran late game.

phoenix works best imo, especially with micro
Stalkers beat muta’s 1v1 and they’re cheaper. If you have a few sentries then guardian shield will nullify all of the splash damage from the mutas bounce attack (along with the stalkers base 1 armor) effectively making mutas do 6/0/0 against stalkers. A balanced force of gate way units can handle muta/ling with a tech to either ht’s or phoenixes. I suggest ht’s since zerg’s will tend to tech switch to hydras if you commit to too many phoenixes rendering them useless. You can also merge the ht’s to archons which can tank a lot of damage for the inevitable ultra/ling switch.
2 gate is till viable it just won’t be the standard opening in PvZ anymore.
Overall, you played a solid game. Two things hurt you:
Medivacs were late. Your bio suffered because of that.
Ultralisk Glitch on Planetary. Killed all your SCVs.
You also allowed him to take map control. He could out produce you pretty effectively.
Great game, but I think if you harassed him a little bit more throughout the match you would have had success. Aside from the early pressure from the hellions, he never had to worry about you. No doubt that Ultralisk bug/feature/glitch hurt though.

And yes, he was dumb for not making any medivacs. He’d have less tanks, but he wouldn’t have lost half his marines to just infestors.
What you saw in the replay is why I was saying the ultralisk glitch is a big deal. I had no chance to take down that planetary fortress pre-patch. I honestly wouldn’t have even tried to go ultra’s, and teched straight to broodlords since he had so many tanks…but I just wanted to try it out. I think ZvT is my new fav matchup.
Anyway to beat Zealot/Stalker/Sentry combo as Zerg? This shit seems impossible. Forcefield = gg

The problem is terran is too spoiled and SHOULDN’T be able to just repair through damage and keep their planetary fortress alive, I’m glad this glitch is in. I see posts all the time like “OMG When ultralisks attack what am I supposed to do? If I just repair then I die because of the splash” and I just want you yell “BITCH you do what every other race does when an unprotected expansion is attacked, you fucking run your workers away and lose the building.”
But just as a note I didn’t watch any of the replays because I’m lazy : P
Ow no, say it ain’t so, Terran actually has to defend expansions with… UNITS!!! gasp Why I’ve never heard of such absurdity. You mean they can no longer just tell all their SCV’s to repair and make the Planetary Fortress near invincible. I mean the other two races have long range ground units with splash to take care of them like the Terran’s Siege Tank and Protoss Colossus. At least the Zerg’s Ultralisk has to come close and take hits to kill those damn things. This is totally unfair, Terran should be allowed to just sit there army somewhere and have their expansions practically defend themselves.

I don’t know why blizzard is avoiding the obvious. Maybe they’re just trying to save balance patches for the expansions so more people will buy them.
For some reason, I don’t understand why they can’t effectively balance the game before HOTS comes out. For one, they should never have been so greedy with the THREE GAMES concept. Because of this, they released a partial game that people are trying to take seriously when its undeserving. Are they waiting until the release of HOTS to address the issue???
I mean, besides the single player aspect, anyone here really want to play HOTS for multiplayer? Who here enjoys seeing the multiple games between TvP or some variant of the two races, that exists today? I understand that P/T players don’t want to see their races nerfed, etc. but it’s bad for the game and players of all skill levels are going to look towards that new fresh game to play. Simple as that…
Damn I thought it was bad when I heard Dimaga was switching to Terran, now Cool (aka Fruit Seller) is also switching to Terran. I even read that CheckPrime is getting way too frustrated playing Zerg and may switch. It’s already been confirmed that JulyZerg is going with Terran in the transition to SC2. How much more proof does Blizzard need to realize that Zerg is under powered? They’re the least played race with the lowest win ratio and almost no representation at high level play. It’s sad when you can list all of the notable Zerg players with your fingers.
