forgot to thank you for posting this video it was incredibly insightful. i’ve been practicing the toss build in this video against my friends. its always scary because i dont have many units for most of the early game makes me feel so naked. haven’t actually played against any terrans in leagues for a while so i’m not quite sure if i’ve got it down.

the last terran i got matched up with in leagues was a total noob. i guess he didnt do his recon well cause he tried to harass with two hellions when i clearly had stalkers, and then followed up with siege tanks and marines NO marauders, which i then slaughtered to death. if he had gotten marauders it wouldve been a different story altogether. i have no idea how the hell he was a platinum terran. if only all my games against terran were so ez.

i’m always surprised to see how quickly M&M tear through zealot sentries stalkers. to learn the matchup better i’ve also been playing some terran vs my other friends who play protoss, and we’ve been taking turns playing each race. i’ve found that if i see walkers, siege tanks works wonders against them (imo by the time they have 1-2 walkers with lance upgrade, you can get 1-2 tanks with siege upgrade). tanks slaughter them so hard. and then later on 1 viking for spotting is pwnage. i can only imagine what 1-2 ghosts emping would do.

the rest of my recent league games have been all platinum zergs, and since i practice 1v1with my diamond zerg friend who slaughters me, these zerg players seem much easier in comparison. fighting zerg is night and day difference from fighting terran. with terran i always shit myself and get stressed out. i feel cyclops fighting cable with no assist. with zerg its other way around. i don’t even 2 gate. i 4 gate and harass their expo with a mix of zealots and stalkers and sentries, and win. i have shitty micro as well. its ridiculous. that must be how terrans feel at lower level leagues. 3 rax, and win. brain dead simple.

ive been lurking team liquid a lot, it sounds like a lot of them think terran are either imba or OP or something along those lines. at higher levels of play, im sure terran are no problem to pros who have gdlk micro. but at lower levels, terrans can win with little to no micro or macro. just follow the 3 rax build order, select units, hit “a”, and target enemy base. its like they are cable, jumping backward and holding down commando assist.

marauders should seriously cost more minerals AND gas (maybe 50 more minerals and 25 more gas) for how insanely good they are. and concussive shell ONLY costing 50 mineral 50 gas for a retardedly good passive ability? WTF. make it cost the same as the siege tank upgrade. if they cost more, then the terran can’t easily get many marauders plus siege tanks and medivacs. he’s forced to make hard choices. as is, he can push out with his initial force of marines and marauders which are strong enough to survive anything, and then supplement it with tanks and medivacs as necessary.

Mauraders themselves aren’t that great, I mean they serve their purpose, but you can get 2 marines for the same cost, and 2 marines do more damage even against armored units as 1 maurader does.

Where mauraders really rules is their concussive shells, it’s just too good. When terran gets them (basically for free, mind you, and they used to be free outright), you can no longer disengage a fight, because the mauraders will just rock your world by slowing you down. It’s so annoying. There needs to be an increase in cost or a timer added on the slowdown or something.

The other problem is that mauraders are supposed to be good against heavy units, and weak against light; however, because of concussive shells, light units (zealots, lings, etc) just get kited anyway, meaning they’re really good. The only thing that works is air, which is good and all, but it really makes fighting them one dimensional. Mauraders need to have a light unit weakness like they were designed to

yo fishjie i’m starting to practice toss/terran a lot more if you want some practice matches i’ll be on most of the day…and i’m glad you found the video useful! I’m practicing that build myself against Terran players so that I can off race a bit more effectively.

I don’t know about T/P but speedlings really do work VERY well against marauders. Even with the concussive effect you’re not going to avoid the speedling surround and at that point those marauders are going to die.

Only if your speedlings have both critical mass and open space. Marauders don’t own light units for free, but they’re far better against them than they’re supposed to be.

how big is that map that 14 ppl fit into it? sounds like its gonna lag like crazy! I would sooo play if my game didnt keep crashing due to my shiet overheating… cant find a fucking fix for this shit

The map is huge…simply put, it’s big enough for 14 players. You don’t realize how much space that actually entails until you see it.

they better balance soon, because i’m saying this game blows as is… Not really, but you know what i’m saying… An average Terran Player should always beat an average Zerg Player

Haha 14 player FFA sounds crazy, but I wont be on until after 10 PST tonight so have fun fellas

I’d also like to add a little bit on STATIC defenses for the zerg. For the zerg player, it takes a drone to build a spine crawler/spore, and then you have to replace that drone that you used to make the crawler/spore. So what’s the cost? Well, the 50 mineral it cost the drone, the 100 mineral it cost to purchase, and the 50 mineral it cost to replace the drone. 200 MINERALS!!! but wait, that’s not the only thing… TIME!!! The time it took to build and replace the drone has to be factured. And static defenses help, sure, especially when YOUR BASE IS WIDE OPEN for everyone to come and check out. So yeah, while cannons cost 150 minerals (and attack GROUND AND AIR), that’s all it takes… Turrets are fantasmic (they also see cloaked units and cost, what, 100 minerals?).
All of this adds to a FRUSTRATED ZERG PLAYER!

I will say the maps they have now are mostly favored towards Terran over the other races, which is why Terran is the better of the races right now. Yes I think a balance change slightly tweaking some things right now, giving zerg a little bit of a buff and nerfing terran very slightly, but it’s mainly the maps in the current ladder.

Could it also be that the Terrans are IMBA because the released game is based on their campaign, and the dev team haven’t had the chance to focus on the zerg/protoss? That’s the way it feels to me.

Haven’t tried FFA yet either, but might as well kick it off big with 14 players.

and yeah, iren or anyone else who wants to practice tvp or pvt i’m down. at this point, ive gotten over the ego loss of losing badly to terran. now i just expect to lose and get pleasantly surprised when i dont.

well static defenses aren’t that good in general, you never want to go overboard on them. you only really want to build like 1-2 a base to help protect minerals and ramp, that money is better spent on units like you said. spine crawlers can relocate so they’ve got that goin for them.
