fishjie, I definitely respect what you have to say about IdrA, and to a large extent I agree. The main point he had that I really wish was more commonly brought up was the scouting thing. Even if the match up with T or P is balanced if the scouting isn’t very possible for Zerg then a lot of the ‘spirit’ of StarCraft seems to go out the window.

Also, Z can get speed overlords and Overseers without even needing to change their tech pattern, whereas P needs to go Robo (gee, wonder why everyone gets a colossus?) or research hallucination and invest in gas heavy paperweights known as Sentries (yeah they’re good but only with backup) to scout.
Terran can scan but then it’s playing a guessing game, and costs potential money

I do agree with idra that the zerg are arguably the hardest race to master. you have to remember to inject, to spread creep, and you have to get good surrounds and flanks in. you also have to have tons of experience to know when you can get away with droning and when you can’t. so they do require more “skill” to get good at. it is not a race for beginners. but there’s more to rts than good mechanics. but whether or not that’s imbalanced, I still believe its too early to say.
I’m sure when idra comments on the latest finals, he will most likely say, Inca played terribly so you can’t judge balance from that. I agree. I don’t think Inca sucks though, he was just horribly outclassed. I want to see an MVP vs Nestea or MC vs Nestea showmatch, and that would be more indicative of balance. But again, things are still being figured out every day, so it would be premature to use even showmatches between champions as evidence. Just a while back, protoss were unstoppable because of 3 gate sentry expand, turtle up, a-move attack. But now Losira’s roachling pressure build is really fucking that up. But who knows what new and crazy openings will be developed as time goes on?
BW went through massive transformations at the pro level. Imba matchups that favored one race would suddenly favor another when a pro figured out a new build. So I’m hopeful.
The one good thing about Greg is that he is a polarizing heel, so he draws the crowds. I root against him, others root for him, but everyone talks about him. when he gets a better attitude, he will become a monster. and lately he’s been doing more 2 base pressure play, and having good success, instead of doing his predictable macro style. this is actually very good for esports. everyone loves a good anti-hero. He’s also a good analytical caster (his streams are very educational), better than day 9, but less likable.
Im hoping the Super Tournament gives us some awesome matches; MC, Nestea, MVP, SC, July, Nada all duking it out. Seems theres so many upsets in the group stages, this format will give us a more normal series format letting the good players really focus on their upcoming matchup completely, instead of spreading their focus over 3 possible matches.
Depending on the brackets we may finally get our awesome MC/MVP/Nestea finals

4 days a week of GSL, 2 days a week of GSTL. GSTL is becoming its own league, where each team plays the other teams in its division, 10 teams 2 divisions of 5. Gonna be pretty awesome for sure.
Also, winner of MLGs are going to get instant code S, 2-4th get Code A, and 4 GSL players will be attending each MLG event
Are you getting killed by the roach/ling all in? To prepare for that leave your probe scouting their base and look for early gas/pool with no expand. If you see them build a warren before units you can expect some kind of all in pressure. Build a forge and 2 cannons up at your choke and just keep building workers.
Edit: The other tell for this build is that the Z has to position his overlord near your ramp for sight up the cliff in order to snipe the hold position Zealot. Look for that overlord, because if he doesn’t rush you with roach/speedling and positions it there then it’s a free OL kill by the hands of a stalker when you can get it out. Losing an over lord that early is enough to stop a lot of pressure.

So does anyone know if the new 3 rax marine/scv all in auto-wins against Zerg fast expand? I’ve been checking out streams of really top notch Z players (Psy, Destiny) and watching them lose most of the time to the 3 rax all-in. It’s really weird because the T player can just make it look like a 2 rax before he kills your scout which is beatable (especially post patch) by Zerg FE. The 3 rax marine/scv all-in seems to be a different story altogether. I’m looking for advice on this.
It doesn’t affect me too much yet because I go 14 gas/14 pool on ZvT but I’m still curious.
