The only thing I’ll say about General Grievous is that the 2002 Clone Wars made that dude look like the scariest mofo this side of the Emperor…
…and all that build up was fucking wasted in the movies.

I can’t fucking stress this enough.
When grevious first showed up in the animated cartoon, my mind was fucking blown. He fucking rekted everybody…
and then George Lucas fucked it up, and Grevious never was the same.
I won’t lie…the Falcon got me hype.
You’re fucking stupid or a 12-year old if you think Darth Maul was cool because he jumps around like a homosexual on Christopher Street Day.
If you really think that Darth Gay-Nobody-Cares-About vs. Boring-Nobody-Cares-About #1 and Boring-Nobody-Cares-About #2 was better than any of the Jedi confrontations displayed in the original sage, then you’re not only a dumb 12-year old, you’re probably also mentally retarded.
If you think lightsaber fights are cool because Fushwoon nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn vruuummmm and cool choreography, you should also reconsider your priorities when evaluating a movie pr a fight scene in general.
Or maybe you’re just not a Star Wars fan at all and Lucas did a great job with pulling the John Woo audience in who loves fights without any substance that go on for an hour that don’t have any meaning or consequence for the shitty story of the film.
Let Plinkett educate you on lightsabers:
This trailer looks like a fan made trailer. But if you go to the 0:40 mark. What character is that?
Also, I believe that the Sith lord in this is The One Sith!!!
EDIT: but if it is an ancient Sith then it would have to be Darth Bane or one of the members of the Lost Tribe of the Sith…
@ArtVandelay I may not agree with all of your points, but we can agree that the passionate nerd rage in your post clearly shows you are a bigger Star Wars fan than I am. Kudos to you sir
To this day, I personally think that Luke vs. Vader in ROTJ is my personal favorite of all the fight sequences in the entire saga. The “Duel of the Fates” was great because it’s like nothing that was ever seen in any of the other movies, Jedi in their prime against a Sith lord. By no means does it carry any of the emotional gravitas of any of the other battles, it’s just a good fight.
I’ve seen Plinkett’s educational sermon/ review on prequels prior to your post and he made some very good points. In the video you sent, I do agree, the lightsaber is used more like a nostalgia hook than an actual weapon (especially in AOTC).
Looking at the crossguard saber in this movie, I don’t really see what the issue is. It’s just different from what we have seen in the past. I don’t disagree that it’s a little strange, but arguing practicality and realism when the following scene features a ship with the aerodynamics of a partially eaten cheeseburger performing a low level Split S is hilarious.
Not sure if I like the look of the blade itself, I wonder if this how Abrams plans on showing all light sabers or is this one just using an unstable crystal?
This is actually what I have more of an issue with. I hope that it’s the exception rather than the rule
did someone mention Clone Wars Grievous? 1:03:36 in
I was in the 10-12-ish range when Episode 1 dropped and me and all of my friends who all saw it thought it was cool.
So either your too old for the new trilogy and need to let it go or didn’t have friends to have awesome lightsaber fights with and experience the joy of fighting over the darth maul lightsaber.
Can’t be worse than the prequels.
Yea the first two was hot garbage, except for Darth Maul in EP.I. I felt like The Revenge of Sith somewhat redeemed The prequel trilogy.
Revenge of the Sith was garbage.
Out of The Prequel Trilogy,The Revenge of the Sith was the best one IMO
The entire prequel trilogy was ass outside of Pod Racing(Jake Lloyd’s overacting aside), Darth Maul vs Obi Wan and Qui Gon, Yoda vs Darth Sidious, and Anakin vs Obi Wan.
Everything else was a complete waste of time and made no sense in the grand scheme of things.
Only good thing to come from the prequels were both Clone Wars series, and the Pod Racer video game.
Out of The Prequel Trilogy,The Revenge of the Sith was the best one IMO
LOL, it’s virtually science fact. It’s like it took George Lucas 2 movies to finally get it right. Third time’s a charm I guess. Still, when you can take otherwise solid actors and make them have some of the most cringe-worthy line delivery has to be a skill within itself.
I got a question for all you Star Wars fans: Was the prequel trilogy needed?
I got a question for all you Star Wars fans: Was the prequel trilogy needed?
Hell no.
this thread is why i fucking hate star wars nerds
trailer was cool lookin enough to make me interested, THE END
I got a question for all you Star Wars fans: Was the prequel trilogy needed?
No it was not necessary. However, if someone else would have made these movies, there would have been some hope. IMO, the best Star Wars movies are the ones that he didn’t direct.
Thanks to Lucas, every other movie franchise feels the need to do this. The only time I have really ever seen a prequel work was Devil May Cry 3.
