A lot of it is reading between the lines type of stuff. If Igor and Kennedy were getting along then Igor wouldn’t have final approval of Star Wars projects going forward and Kennedy’s contract extension would have gotten some type of press release.

I think that people are over sensationalizing things. I do think you are right that Iger has the “final” say-so, but Kathleen is returning a profit. They’ll course correct a few things, but I am pretty sure the franchise is in her hands. Her deal is through 2021. I am sure that how things go with the Disney+ content and Episode IX are going to be where the rubber meets the road. I’ll call it now, she’ll be around till about 2024. She’s a really powerful producer and gets things done in terms of delivering a project. I’d be more surprised if they let her go.

Hawkingbird is right. When Iger commented on all Disney’s other studios he praised all the studio heads but Kennedy. Also he only said he had final approval on Star Wars projects. He didn’t come out a criticize her but the implication is clear.
It like this Josh Rosen situation. Arizona has not said they are trying to trade him. However their GM has said he is the QB “right now”, their headcoach said he’d pick Murray with first pick before he got the job, they’ve kicked the tires on Kyler Murray with private workout, and their recent season hype video does show Rosen at all.
There is definite criticism to be made on the approach to the franchise. I would definitely agree that all the upcoming projects go through him. His comments seem more like a move of solidarity to the process of how items get made than to place blame on a part of the studio. Kathleen said there will be at least 10 more years of Star Wars, but that does not mean everything will be released during that time frame. Ol’ girl ain’t moving, at least not for the next couple years.

They wouldn’t let her go unless they had a replacement lined up. Disney is publicly traded, their stock would take a massive hit.

That someone will have to want the job. Whoever wants to be in charge of Star Wars will need to be hooked up to an IV filled with alcohol.

Well by all accounts, that is why she still has the job. They couldn’t find anyone else to take it. I can’t say that I blame them. If they want someone else, they won’t get them until after Episode IX wraps. No one wants to be left holding bag if Episode IX ends up getting the same reaction as Episode VIII.
This isn’t to denigrate her qualifications. She’s got decades of exceptional producing on her resume. It was why Lucas had confidence that she could take over the franchise. The issue is that she isn’t a creative type. She should had some sort of overall creative vision for the franchise. This why she kept butting heads with the directors she hired.
Rogue One, Solo, and Episode IX all had disconnects between Lucasfilm and the director. Rogue One managed to be okay with her after some minor re-shoots. Solo was filmed twice. Lord and Miller shot their version. Kennedy didn’t like it, they threw it out and Ron Howard re-shot the entire movie. It’s why it budget was so ludicrously high for a side story. Solo ended having a 250 million budget. Originally it was supposed to cost around 150 million. Colin Trevorrow left Episode IX because Rian Johnson threw out JJ’s outline causing TLJ’s script to conflict with what he wanted to do. Trevorrow wanted Luke alive for his Episode IX script.
Star Wars is an interconnected universe. You can’t just wing it. Anything done effects the entirety of the franchise. Such a philosophy is only fitting for films with self contained universes.

This is why I feel that everything outside of IX is going to be where you will start to see the Star Wars universe actually become one.

I don’t know of any other “theories”. I am sure many have head Canon about what happened, especially since the movie somewhat answered the question.
No idea on 1 but recent comics state the answer to question 2 is that’s Palpatine had a hand in Anakin 's birth via his master’s tech or something. It has been a minute I forgot the specifics.
