Aw, hating on Beats Wars
Good times.
No, youāre missing the point. Sure they were always supposed to be āRobots in Disguiseā ofcourse but, alsoā¦badass toys that sell. Beast Wars kinda lost sight of that and went a little TOO serious with the āRobots in disguiseā part. Plain looking animals, aside from stuff like dinosaurs, usually arenāt that exciting.
G1 had it right with their kickass beast modes.
Beast Wars is one of the reasons that Transformers is still alive and well today. G1 was the hook, Beast Wars brought it back, the movies cemented it in pop culture (for better or worse).
Your response anecdotally proves my earlier point.
Tigerhawk is the goat transformer. Fight me.
You give BW waaaay too much credit. Beast Wars was a certainly a neat ābreakā and branch-off from your conventional Transformers stuff but, G1 style with Vehicles & robotic Beast modes was inevitably going to make a come back. Badass giant robots that turn into trucks and jets? Almost a timeless concept.
Also not to bash on Beast Wars too much but, itās saying something that weāve yet to have another full-fledged Beast Wars style series since then.
Thatās because Beast Machines fucked it all up.
Nope. The Future of Transformers was never going to be Beast Wars style. That was just a neat branch off. Inevitably things were going to come full-circle back to G1āish vehicals and animals. Like it has these past 17 or so years since BW ended.
Itās been well documented that the franchise returned because of that show. TF was a dead brand after things like Action Masters (the worst TF gimmick ever) and G2 (repaints of vintage G1). It was in desperate need of a pivot.
Shaking the apple cart every so often is a good thing. Regards to TF, BW wasnāt a break, it was a last ditch effort. It kickstarted things and now we are where we are today because of it. I think the same will be seen in 20 years for this movie as well. Creates a flashpoint which gives the powers that be a way to go āOk, so what worked and what didnātā. Itād be safe to say Lucasfilm is doing the same thing here given the lineup of upcoming content.
Speaking of:
Panel for The Mandalorian
and a cam post of the show featurette (HURRY BEFORE THE MOUSE GETS IT)!
Go take your argument somewhere else. This here is for star wars.
Beast Wars kicked ass.
Besides no such ādocumentationā existing, like i said, Badass giant robots that turn into cool vehicles? Timeless concept. The brand just needed a break, and BW was that break. G1 style was inevitably going to make a comeback. It was a just a matter of when.
And Generation 2 actually did pretty well itās first couple of years. Lack of a dedicated new show to drive it, was ultimately itās downfall longterm. Still, Generation 2 holds a fond place in the hearts of many fans. The repaints of G1 bots and unique style of the Generation 2 packaging were pretty neat. Then the New mold figures like G2 Megatron, Laser Prime, Laser Rods, etc, were all welcome additions.
Supposedly there was another trailer for The Mandalorian shown at Celebration. I really donāt understand at this point why they donāt get the hype train moving.
Letās get back to Star Wars please. There is actually news for the IP going on right now. Arguing about Beast Wars is pointless. At this point you love it or hated it. No oneās mind is going to change. Letās talk about Jedi Fallen Order, Episode IX, and The Mandalorian. We already have a TF thread.
Iām still waiting on the catch for Fallen Order. I donāt believe EA when they say no MTX and single player only.
The only reason I have a 5% hope that things will turn out well if how Respawn handled Titanfall 2. If Fallen Order is handled the same way, from a campaign and MTX/DLC standpoint, weāll be golden.
Titanfall 2 is one of the best single player shooter campaigns that I have played in a while. Seeing Respawn working on this gives me hope. Since we got 3.5 seconds of what I think is gameplay, I hope that we see more of it in the coming months.
Gamers should ashamed of themselves for not making TF2 a smash hit. That game was literally everything hardcore gamers claim to want. Great campaign, multiplayer, and no $50 Map Pack DLC bullshit. Instead of buying Titanfall 2, they bent over, dropped their shorts, and let Activision pound them with no lube.
I put that on EA for picking a horrible point between CoD and their own Battlefield game to drop it. It was a lesser known IP and got slaughtered because no one knew TF2 was better then the first game. It would be like Jedi Fallen Order being dropped sandwiched between another SW game and Halo infinite.
Or worst a week of or after Rise of the Jedi.
EA definitely screwed it with casuals, but Iām talking about hardcores. People that knew the deal and still didnāt buy it.
Even with hardcores TF2 wouldnāt be able to overcome being sandwiched between CoD and Battlefield. I imagine theyāll only have the chose between two at most.
That is not what Iām saying. Iām saying hardcores that bitch about DLC practices and shit campaigns didnāt buy Titanfall 2. It wouldnāt have saved the game. Iām just pointing out hypocrisy. Iām sure they would have been all over Twitter and YouTube talking about the game if it had shit DLC practices.
Edit: Sorry, Iāve derailed the topic now. Any thoughts how Fallen Order will play? I canāt remember Respawn doing anything 3rd person. So I donāt have a point of reference. Maybe a modern take of the Jedi Knight games from back in the day?
