Doesnāt seem like it, because Mortal Kombat X completely dismisses the old timeline altogether. As far as lore is concerned, the old timeline doesnāt exist anymore. Wish Darth Krayt or one of the Sith from The Lost Tribe will be in VII, VIII, and IX
Old timeline in MKX is basically future Trunks timeline from DBZ where someone from there sent word out about it to the past, causing a new timeline to emerge.
No such thing is in place for Star Wars though.

Not necessarily. While yes technically the old timeline no longer exists, it still caused direct repercussions to the current timeline thanks to both Raiden and Shinnok. Also, not unlike the Abrams Star Trek movies, the timeline seems to want to self-right itself to its normal course. Hence why even with different context, the major events from MKs 1-4 STILL happened and it looks like there will be a new Deadly Alliance for the next game.
Yeah the closest would be the Star Trek example. The EU Star Wars storyline just simply doesnāt exist and has no repercussions over whatās happening now (outside of Abrams possibly using it for inspiration).

Youāre right. MKX is basically a reboot of MK4/MK Gold. MKDA will happen because of all those Shang Tsung cameos in like 5 or 6 MKX character endings. The question remainsā¦ who will Shang Tsungās Deadly Alliance partner be?
Also, Shinnok was and will never, ever be as powerful as Shao Kahn in a 1on1 match. You saw how nothing phased Shao Kahn at the end of MK9 when Raiden threw everything he had at him. Only the Elder Gods could defeat Shao Kahn. With this being said, Shao Kahn will return somehow. Remember, according to MK lore, Raiden, Lucifer, and Shao Kahn are from the same raceā¦
Considering Shao Kahn returned in the old time line from death like 30 times heāll be back especially considering its not like MK has a whole lot of big bad villains.
