Star Wars

I really liked that scene where Luke builds his lightsaber and Vader reaches out from the force to speak to him, but I don’t know if that’s officially being put into the OT or not. I think it should be.

Personally I think it makes sense to have the Obi-wan and Anakin from the PT as the force ghosts at the very end. I know people complain about that, but seriously it actually doesn’t make sense otherwise continuity wise.

I have thought for the very longest time that 1-6 needs to be redone, with modifications and a very cohesive full story line. It’s different when you can play everything out in sequence from the beginning. And a lot of other movies and such get reboots, slight changes that actually do work out great and sometimes better than the original, but even if not better when enough time passes so what? It’s nice to see it again and slightly different.

I would like to really see Vader built up and fallen so it’s very shocking and why Obi Wan and Yoda are so broken afterwards. And I’d love to see the audience really root for Luke to bring him back. That is really the heart and soul of Star Wars, Anakin’s fall and redemption. Everything else is just ancillary. But I don’t think it was truly executed as well as it could have been.

bingo. Order 66 was like M-Day in Marvel. All it did was get rid of the useless nobodies who had one shitty tier ability.

Dunno about the first part of your post, but no, Luke wanted to head to the Rebel academy to join Biggs and his friends.

According to the wookiepedia (which is how I remember reading it in some book):
Solo then entered the Imperial Academy at Carida, serving with distinction. He was kicked out, however, when he stopped an Imperial officer from beating a Wookiee named Chewbacca with a neuronic whip for resisting capture

And the millions (probably closer to billions) of deaths?

Plus remember, that war means we had to get introduced to Jar Jar. Sidious was responsible for Jar Jar.

War is nothing new to the star wars universe.

Even before the clone wars millions were dying in wars orchestrated by the republic.

Still doesn’t make forcing Jar Jar on us for 3 movies any better. That’s unforgivable.

yeah, I always sorta felt sorry for the actor who played Biggs. btw, played by Garrick Hagon
He had two scenes in the movie which got cut out.
Could you imagine?
Being in the biggest movie of all time only to find out your scenes got cut out.
Telling all your friends "Hey! I’m gonna be in Star Wars! Movie is coming out in 5 months. Go see me in it."
His friends reply "In what? Star Wars? What’s that? Sounds like a trashy sci-fi flick. But we’ll go see it if your in it."
5 months pass.
Garrick invites all his friends to see the flick with him on opening day.
Movie is shown.
Movie ends.
credits roll.
Garrick: "WTF? They cut me out of the movie completely! Dammit!"
Garrick turns to friends raving and cheering and applauding for the most jaw dropping blockbuster movie ever made.
Friends turn to Garrick.
Garrick says "T-T-trust me! I was in…THIS movie! I really was! I can prove it!"
Friends reply , “Heh. Yah, suuuure you were.<said with sarcasm> We believe you.” Friends turn to each other with jeering looks to each and laugh a muffled laugh.

that sucks.
Not as bad as being the 5th Beatle…but close.

I like this pic of upcomming Master Skywalker

I wanna talk about something superficial.

Which is Mark Hamill’s face. And how different it looked from a New Hope to Empire & Return.

In case some of yall don’t know…Mark Hamill was in a horrible car accident in which he almost died. He smashed his face into the steering wheel. But it was really really bad cuz he seemed to completely shatter everything from the eye area down to the upper lip area. Totally shattered his nose, cheekbones, and upper mandible.
Pushed everything in.
If you look carefully at his face in A New Hope, especially in the Uncle and Aunt scenes sitting at the dinner table, you can see he has a very pronounced, straight, sharp roman nose, and his upper lip is very unpronounced…while in Empire, the bridge of his nose is almost completely gone and has a ski slope to it, and his nostrils are wider. His upper lip is also puffier.
But now I notice his cheekbones are also flatter. And his chin dimple is also different.
They say that they(Star Wars creators) decided to make it so he crashes his ship and gets into the ice cave with the monster(whatever its called) and that he would have his face beat up to visually explain to the audience that his face from that point on would look “beat up” and “worn”

From reading comments here

there are actually people that knew him in high school and college stating he did radically change appearance-wise.
But whats really really interesting is that people who were teens in 77-80 saying that high school girls that were crazy for New Hope Mark stopped finding him attractive once they saw him in Empire.
There was even a commentator on the website that stated that she knew him personally in high school and found him to be beautiful and “pretty”…but after the accident she stopped liking him.
That to me is shocking that girls can notice such minor differences since I personally think 1977-1983 Mark was always good looking even if it was true he was best looking in A New Hope.
But then again I think personality goes a long way when it comes to attractiveness and Mark, imo, is a brilliant, charming, witty motherfucker that’s very likable. And a great storyteller if I may add.
So I guess guys just wont or don’t notice another man’s looks as much as females.
But these high school girls that stopped finding him attractive with Empire’s premiere probably had not ever really watched him in interviews since theres no internet to watch interviews on the fly.
If they did I don’t think girls woulda stopped finding him attractive if they had ever watched him in interviews…if anything I think they woulda found him even more attractive than ever.
Cuz the dude is really charming, insightful, and brilliant.
but that’s just imo.
this interview is post accident.

imo, he is still good looking but like I said, I’m a guy so I must not be seeing what females see or don’t see.
what we need is a female’s perspective.
@YorKeY‌ and @Neesa‌ lend us a hand here and tell us if y’all find Mark Hamill post accident attractive or not as representatives of the female gender. Honestly tell us your opinions.

Dude!

I like DC Comics.

Somebody needs to liberate the license from those morons and give it to Arc System Works. I’d like a good DC fighting game before I die. :stuck_out_tongue:

This thread is a comedy goldmine. As a long lapsed Star Wars fan I missed most of these fan edit videos.

I’m all in on the new movies being good since JJ Abrams managed to make Star Trek enjoyable for me, even if Sulu wasn’t fencing in that first movie. I’ll forgive him.

quick funny story.
its 1983.
I’m 8 years old.
stood out in the rain with some family members for hours in NYC to see Return of the Jedi. I think it was opening weekend…if it wasn’t it might of been the 2nd weekend. cant remember.
anywho…movie is playing.
Everyone in the audience is having a blast.
Remember its opening weekend and the net doesn’t exist so no spoilers exist yet.
Its gets to the part when Vader tells Luke to remove his mask. Luke says “but you’ll die!” Vader says "Nothing will change that now."
Luke removes the helmet and you see an old white guy with a tinge of pale zombie blue on his skin smiling back at Luke with watery eyes.
Some people in the audience go “Aw.” with pity and sentiment.
Then someone in the audience yells out, "Hey! What the? That’s not James Earl Jones!?!? What a rip off!"
Everyone laughs.
I didn’t get it at the time cuz I didn’t know who Mr. Jones was at the time. Not in name at least but in face yes. Thulsa Doom.

TheKingOfParody, then I guess you remember the golden age of arcades when you had Double Dragon and Shinobi in almost every pizza place, 7-11, and bowling alleys…

shit I wonder how it would of effected history if they had james earl jones under the mask

Well for one, probably Hayden and Samuel Jackson would have had to switch roles. I actually believe Hayden is a fantastic actor and didn’t have much to work with, but who knows if Jackson would have been able to do a better job as Anakin.

For another, man a lot of white people would be really butthurt. Especially white women.

LOL Hayden “I don’t like sand” Christiansen is a fantastic actor…

Never change, Serpent… never change…

He is a fantastic actor, don’t judge his skill based on the one piece of work you’ve seen him in.

of course I do.

Forgive me, but i haveta commit a must do edit cuz I cant just leave it with that one line remark heheh:

The kids of today really missed out.
those glorious days of quarter eating cabinets as far as the eye can see. cabs in every joint…and arcades in every mall.
them good ole days.
where do kids go to hang out and meet and make friends and check out girls nowadays?
and yeah, girls would hang out at arcades too.
i’ll never forget golden axe, dragon spirit(intro where the knight holds up his sword and a lightning bolt hits it and he transforms into a blue dragon was so godlike), dragon’s lair(which can be said was the world’s first introduction to QTEs), after burner, pac-man, Double D, ninja gaiden(which is nothing like the home nes port), the Michael Jackson moonwalker, Robocop vs Terminator, etc etc.
I remember this contra style top down shooter me and my friend played…it had the most interesting joystick designed for its unique gameplay. Unique for its time which was 89. one joystick. 2 buttons I think. if you held left on the stick, your character would move to the left, but the joystick had this like cylinder on it, so…if you twisted the cylinder the character would shoot wherever you twisted the cylinder. so if I was moving left and wanted to shoot to the right I just needed to twist it and the character would turn by twisting it till he faced right.
mind blowing for its time.
I remember the home consoles Atari 2600 and Vetrex. All of that shit.

some vids of the arcade games I remember playing.

I would have to agree. Not only him, George Lucus literally downgraded the acting chops of Natalie Portman, Liam Neeson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Ewan McGregor. All of the mentioned did some really solid work. If you judged them based on the prequels alone, you’d probably never really care to see them again. The “You’re breaking my heart” line from Padme was some of the most painfully delivered dialogue in the prequels.

Haha Ewan McGregor is so boss that I actually thought he STILL had a very strong performance. But I also thought Obi-wan was written better than the other characters and had a little bit more freedom.

It’s common knowledge that Lucas told Christensen to act the way he did, he made him actually tone down his acting, part of being a Jedi or something. It really wasn’t until the final scene on Mustafar that he was allowed to really show any emotion whatsoever, and by that point there wasn’t really much left to do. He was supposed to be a crazed Sith at that point.

as a side note this video is embedded in the article is a lovely treat for us OG fans. Give it a listen  Yoda is back
