Star Wars

How did anyone go into this movie thinking that these guys weren’t all going to die? Isn’t it thoroughly implied, if not outright stated, that the Rebels suffered heavy losses to get the Death Star plans in all parts of the canon?

I’m presuming this was a typo, but I like it.

because this is the first real grim dark star wars story on film. any real fans had an inkling it might happen, but none of use were really sure how disney was gonna pull the trigger on this one. Especially with those reshoots to make it a lighter tone film earlier in the year.

Empire was pretty dark. Han was frozen, Vader revealed to Luke that he was his father, and there was that little green gremlin muppet in the swamp.

still pretty tame…especially by 80s standards. time bandits ended more darkly for me lol.

Star Wars no longer a real religion…

Star Wars: UK Declares Jediism Is Not A Religion

This is pretty good

^^They even referenced that for the ESB Honest Trailer

The Death Star PR twitter account is one of my favorite parody accounts right about now.

Spoiler laced - Everything from 5:03 and beyond is exactly how you would envision Kylo Ren reacting.

The Death Star is fucking scary in this movie. It’s massive presence and it fucks shit up. That hasn’t happened in Star Wars since, well, Episode 4. Rogue One doesn’t quite capture it as well as Ep4, but how could it at this point? This is the 4th movie with a super weapon.

Return of the Jedi and the Death Star II, never really felt scary. Sure it blew up the one or two fleet ships but big whoop

Starkiller base, probably the most disappointing super weapon ever portrayed. We see it blow up like 4 planets in one shot but there never felt much weight of that consequence…we’re supposed to care about the Republic, I guess. So that super weapon is kind of ho hum and far in the background compared to the Skywalker family drama. Then the planet-killing-planet gets bodied pretty free by a small X-Wing squadron as opposed to an entire fleet like in ROJ’s Death Star II…yet this was a FUCKING PLANET. Whatevs

You feel the same way about A New Hope?

about a small squad destroying the original Death Star? it’s different. The Empire was arrogant and felt the first Death Star was impossible to destroy. They didn’t even send a squad of fighters until half way into the rebel assault. A lot of luck too went into putting an end to that…a Skywalker and Han Solo’s surprise return. And you also give the movie some leeway since it was the first movie too.

I guess.

Rogue One>The Force Awakens

Jyn imo is a better female protagonist than Rey who is the very definition of a Mary Sue.

Carrie Fisher suffered a major heart attack while aboard a flight from London to L.A. She’s in critical condition.
