the problem with the fight scenes in the prequels was the fact they got lost in showing the fighting style. it was a mess
childish reaction to a push kick at 5:22
exposing the back as if they both were using broad swords and he parried obiâs âheavyâ sword at 5:35
trying to make a fancy dance up at 5:38 the vision of a man limited by imagination and forgetting theyâre using laser swords
6:05 these guys have super fast reactions, very intelligent people yet they turn the fight into a cowboy bar fight
6:20 being stylish for slow thinkers is more important than being smart for some reason
7:07 the way these guys are fighting, Iâm not convinced theyâre serious
I think the real reason they chose to fight like this is to keep continuity with the way darth and luke fought in the old films. I think this fighting style was built around that.
the fighting in the prequels in theory are much more entertaining. but they need to show some more activity from the actual characters, atleast with luke it looked like he was putting thought into his fighting, this fight was pure style. it was an exhibition
I hate that fightâŚsooooooooooooooooooo much!
not so much the fight choreography but that it ever happened.
Why would an old, 800 year old midget, who has to walk everywhere with a cane from being so dusty old, ever get into a fight?
Lucas for conceiving this fight up should have been admitted to an insane asylum due to obviously being crazy. Or for just being completely oblivious to his own creation called the Star Wars universe.
Heâs 800 years old.
He walks with a cane.
Heâs tinier than a midget.
He couldnât even outwrestle Lukeâs flashlight out of R2D2âs claw in Empire.
Now heâs backflipping off of walls in a saber duel?
fuck you George Lucas.
and donât give me that âhe channeled the Forceâ bullshit copout. Thereâs a limit to that shit. Like Yoda himself said when Luke told him he would never die and Yoda said strong is the force in me, but not that strong. its called being 800 years old!
OT Yoda was a puppet. He couldnât do shit but basic movements.
OT Yoda Renounced all that shit because of his failure at stopping Sidious.
Even at his old age Yoda is considered one of the most powerful Force users ever and Lightsaber combatants ever. Donât judge him because of age or size.
His cane had another purpose besides just helping him walk. He chewed on it as a snack.
You donât know shit about what the force can do so shut the fuck up.
He lost his mobility due to age, but with the force he can regain some of his mobility back for a period of time.
The force wonât let you live forever unless you do a sith ritual. The force however can enhance your physical capabilities which is what yoda does to hold back his arthritis so he can do the nimbly shit you see in 2 and 3 for a few minutes.
I liked the Dooku vs Yoda fight. He seldom fights because he doesnât have to. But when he does, he is beast. Canât complain about old man Yoda having one last good fight before hiding, when u got old man Kenobi taking on Vader and others in A New Hope.
If anything, I was upset he didnât do cooler shit, and that Mace Windu was supposed to be the best Jedi with a lightsabre, until Yoda shows him up.
Haha, I always figured that he just aged really badly those last 20 or so years. Yeah heâs been around 800 years, but he reached the end of his life right around then, so clearly something was up.
I mean as a man you can be in pretty good shape even into your mid 50s, but then crossing into your 60s you will age rapidly. And if you look at women, they just completely fall apart in front of your eyes at 35. That is serious rapid aging in play.
Best duel in the Star Wars saga. Nothing comes close to it. Richard Marquand directed the shots for that sequence very well (especially starting from 3:10 and up). It was two characters, in black, shot in a very low lighting environment, where the colors of the set are primarily gray and black . It was also one of the few times a lightsaber duel played out with music.
With regards to this new trilogy, I hope the directors change out. I think that was one of the best things of the OT. Each movie had itâs own tone and feel, but played well off of one another.
yoda had to not only deal with old age but deal with the fact all his comrades and future generations of jedi got wiped out. only he was left, imagine how shitty you feel when you break up with a girl or lose a job. this guy lost not only his job but his family and religion, that would make a man in his prime age let alone 800 years old
I liked that yoda fight. thats closer to how it should look like for us to see a jedi fight.
but I also liked the darth vs luke, it seemed more relatable to real life sword fighting, the fight taking place inside as well as out. I just donât like anakin vs obi because it was two guys doing a flashy style with one or two moments of jedi stuff to make it contextual. if I can run super fast, control people with my mind, move things with my mind youâd be sure to find it in my fighting style, INVISIBLE but the reaction of exposure shown at the moment of it being countered.
you know what, Iâd even change how they communicate with each other. I liked the fact words meant a lot to these people in the prequel, I think aspiring writers/critics wouldnât notice that, theyâd just call it bad writing. but not only are these people from another time theyâre from another galaxy. I wouldnât pander to critics intellect Iâd go beyond that and make them have to work to understand the conscious flow of a jedi.
I liked certain parts of the Vader vs Luke fight, except that it REALLY looks like two people whoâve never held a sword before, trying to engage in a sword fight. Then you go to Anakin vs Obi Wan, and it just looks TOO staged.
if they were holding swords I would be surprised myself at their movements of bewilderment, but the fact the sword can cut through anything in any direction at any speed lolz their bewilderment exacerbates the reality of a light sabre
when I was a kid I always remember the feeling that they are using something that they shouldnât be using.
