Star Wars

btw, have you guys noticed that Star Wars Rogue One isnt using John Williams music in its trailers?

and the people who saw the movie at the premier said that John Williams score isnt used at all.

Here you go.

They are just prepping Michael Giacchino to take over the Star Wars Anthology films

You know the Oscars are run by old elderly white men that look more for artistic expression than actual content.
It’s why there are a unoffical sub-gendra of films called Oscar bait.
The Film does not have to do well financially, or even be well received, it just have to draw the attention of the old guard of Hollywood, elderly white men.
Why they allow Directors to Film Oscar Bait, Prestige. You can’t buy Prestige, but you can go artsy and bait those old men into loving your picture, even if everyone else thinks it’s garbage.

For real. Some of the greatest films of all time didn’t win oscars or if they did they definitely didn’t win best picture. There’s a lot of ā€œbest pictureā€ movies that have no legacy at all.

I honestly thought that the whole point of The Oscar is to show off movies that have a slight impact on society (getting us talk about different/unique topics, etc.) or at least the way we look at movies (Cinematography).

You’ll have to excuse the naive thought, it was a earlier time of mines. . .

The Directors Guild of America fined George Lucas for refusing to have a standard title sequence in his Star Wars films. After paying the fine, he quit the guild.
Which also hurts any prospects from ever getting not just an Oscar, but it hurt him from getting another guild member to direct.

Oh and I found this and I felt I should share it with everyone, Unrelated to Oscar nonsense but still Star Wars

^ The actor who played Darth, David Prowse, was blamed for divulging the secret that about…well, what happened was this.
they, Kirchner and producers said this.
shoot the scene where Darth says "Luke i am your father."
but have David Prowse say "No. Obi Wan killed your father."
that was what was on the script. and recorded while shooting.
later on in James Earl Jones’ recording, he says "luke i am your father."
someone spilled the beans to a magazine for money, like 100k.
where the magazine revealed that Obi Wan killed Anakin.
which was wrong.
but Lucasfilm blamed David Prowse for the leak because there were very very few people on the set.

meanwhile…much later on it was revealed it was actually a sound technician who ratted, not David.
But David for whatever reason hasnt been forgiven by Disney or Lucasfilm when he’s innocent.
David Prowse was fired wrongly by Lucas, and replaced in ROTJ, and Lucas never apologized either.

uh, this is based on findings while a documentary was shot about David Prowse.
here is its trailer. looks interesting.

i wanna go see Rogue One either thursday night or Fri morning…but i havent gone to a movie theater in years. i think since…97.

since this is the post internet age…if i show up to a movie theater, can i just buy a ticket?
or do i have to buy it online nowadays?
because i dont wanna show up to a movie theater only to find out all seats are sold out due to prior reservations being all bought up from folks buying up all the tickets online.

lul showing up at the theater with no tickets to see Star Wars in 2016 lul 4Head

For real doe, unless you show up in the morning to buy your ticket for the afternoon (and even there, its SW), good luck.

Like he said @StockyJam you’ll have tough time finding tickets for Rogue One this weekend, if. . .

A: You don’t purchase your ticket online or

B: Go early in the morning to get tickets for later in the day.

I bought my ticket two weeks ago and had to go IMAX because the first standard showings were sold out. At least I have my seat reserved too

shit

I got tickets for Friday. Ordered them yesterday on fandango.

Spoiler-free (though if you’re worried about spoilers, why the hell are you reading the Star Wars thread right now):

Rogue One kicks ass. Go see it.

Why?

Answer: Because it’s still fucking Wednesday.

Star Wars came out in Europe today! Or Norway, at least. I mean. I just watched it, and it wasn’t even the first showing.

This is the point at which you need to start worrying about spoilers!

Considering it’s a midquel, I really don’t care that much about spoilers.
