"Stand aside kiddies, while Goliath does his thing!" - The Hawkeye Combo Thread

Has anyone here done any experimentation with Hawkeye/Frank THC? As a full screen punish, say after a blocked Maximum Wesker, the Gimlet hits and then Frank continues with Cart for the wallbounce and you can do dash, slide, launch into a full Hawkeye BnB, which is pretty sick, but i’m wondering if its worth using in combos.

For example, if you do the super basic Launch LMHS, OTG Ice arrow combo with Hawkeye, after the bounce you can do slide xx THC and get the wallbounce, but i can’t get a lot to follow up after, net arrow pops out immediately and another launch only allows for H,S at best. I need to try it just using the THC to OTG instead of the Ice Arrow, but i’m not sure if the Gimlet would whiff before Cart OTGs and ran out of time to test today.

So if anyone plays Hawkeye/Frank and has tried stuff like this, or just has some ideas for Hawkeye followups after a wallbounce with very high HSD, then let me know.

In my experience, gimlet always hits in THCs with shopping cart though I have to examine that further. Also I never actually thought of that as a punish… heck, we might even be able to punish stuff like Dormammu’s Erotic Flame with a THC followed by a full combo! Interesting…

lol

Or you could just use Ammy if one was so inclined. Just hit the THC with Gimlet and Okami and let Okami do its thing then you can A. Catch him on the way down with a net arrow or B. OTG Ice or Orb. Sometimes if you’re slick you can fit a poison arrow in the Okami Shuffle animation as well.

I think, not sure, but I think Ammy has the best THC in the game. Even if you whiff the connect Ammy keeps you safe and gives you time to mix the opponent up during the THC or it’s long enough to add a bunch of extra Hawkeye chip damage too while they are locked down.

Oh yea ammy’s THC is amazing, the only weakness I can see is the fact that the flames don’t hit full screen but thats easily rectifyable depending on when you use the THC and who your point character is.

Oh yeah, you can get Flame for free. Those are the two things i use it for regularly (Maximum Wesker and Chaotic Flame) since those are the two things that people like to throw out most thinking they’re “safe enough”. I’m not sure if you can get Akuma beam though? I’ve tried and missed a few times online, so it’s either not possible or pretty tight.

Yo. I’m new to these Hawkeye forums. That’s my intro.

I have a question.

If I have a bnb combo that does 529k with 2 poisons, how much damage do you think it’s doing total? They’re pretty spaced out in the combo.

And anyone have an optimized combo for Hawkeye with Vergil rapid slash assist? I have a bnb that does 486k 1 bar 2 poisons, and one that does 507k 1 bar 1 poison. Which should I do?

I also have a meterless 409k 2 poisons.

Rusty nail does the damage displayed. You mean Violet Fizz aka Poison Tip?

sigh… yes that lol. What do you guys call them? Like anything for short?

What’s your third character/assist?

I play Iron Man respulsor - Hawkeye vertical - Vergil rapid slash. My team is mostly zoning.

So Hawkeye is second usually with Vergil assist, or I can dhc into him if I like the matchup.

So far I can get ~488k with Vergil extension 1 bar and 2 poisons (so like 608k). And if I have Iron Man I can get more.

I just call them whatever he says (except Gimlet and LV3).

“Zone with Triple Piercing and use Super Scattershot if they get close” is easier to understand than “Zone with Ragtime Shot (Balalaika) and use Kiss of Fire if they get close”.

I was experimenting with a team similar to that of Hawkeye - Vergil - Arthur with same assists as you. Whatever combo you choose depends if you want to keep Hawkeye in, or DHC into spiral swords for heavy damage. The key is to save your groundbounce for Vergil so that he can rebuild a lot of the meter spent after spiral swords. What I do, with spiral swords included:

cr. :l:, cr.:m:, slide, :s:, air :m:, :m:, :h:, :s:, (land) :f: :m:, slide, :s:, air :m:, :m:, :h:, :s:, (land, back dash if in corner) :f: :m:, slide, :s:+Rapid Slash, air :s:, air :s:, (land, backdash) :qcb: :h: xx :h:, :qcf: :atk::atk:, DHC to Vergil-> :dp: :atk::atk:(hold :l: to charge), :dp: :m:, :dp: :m:, cr.:h:, :f: :h:(wallbounce, as they pass over your head) release :l:, cr.:h:, :qcf: :l:, :dp: :m:, :df: :h:, optional dimension slash.

I don’t know offhand how much damage that does, but it’s probably around 950k. Adding the rapid slash extension a la Zero style makes it so Hawkeye builds 1 meter, ensuring you 2 meters if you get the first hit.

Periphery fan?

Are there any decent tutorials for Hawkeye? What do you guys feel are the fundamental things to know about playing him?

Not sure what Periphery is, but if your referring to my tag its from a little rpg from the mid 90’s called Chrono Trigger (happens to be my favorite RPG). sorry for going off topic.

I would check out the main Hawkeye discussion thread. Theres a bunch of posts on his keep away game and his do’s and dont’s.

My last post about this:

Periphery is a band with 2 songs on there new album called Epoch and Masamune, as well as Muramasa and Ragnarok xD

I use him last, so these are mostly solo tips, but some quick notes for ya:

-General neutral game consists of a lot of jump back triple arrow. You can also do j.:h: then triple arrow to give your opponent another hitbox to worry about. Best way to move forward is jumping triple arrow (as close to the ground as possible) then wavedash a couple times behind the arrows. You can mix in jumping spritzers (electric shot) for a little extra chip, but it’s easier to dodge.

-Be careful of his grounded arrow strings, a lot of them put you at a disadvantage. For instance, jump back triple arrow, land, :h: shot, standing triple arrow (popular day 1 flowchart) is easy to jump over and doesn’t put you in a good spot if they block it. The only grounded arrow you should be poking with is :qcb:+:m: xx :h: (“Speed shot!”). So your general ground to air string should be jumping triple arrow, land, speed shot.

-Clint has bad hitconfirms, so unless you’re punishing a move with c.:l:, don’t be fishing for slides into launch, it’s very unsafe. Instead play the footsie game with slide xx poison tip. If they block it, it’s pretty safe, if it hits, you get about 200k added to your zoning game. Abuse s.:m: xx poison tip as well, Yipes stated that this alone beats pretty much everything Akuma does. Standing :m: has a crazy hitbox and is your go to, close-range anti-air.

-If you’re using him with an assist, you can get away with different grounded strings. Jump back triple arrow, land, s.:h: + call assist, up arrows of choice (depending on what the opponent is doing and how much your assist covers you).

-Probably the most important thing for solo Hawkeye is to have meter. That’s the only way you can make anchor Clint work. This allows you to kill a character with lvl three if you have to, but most importantly it gives you plenty of level ones to work with. Hawkeye’s solo zoning isn’t free of holes, so if your opponent finds their way in, let a super scattershot rip to push em back out again. But what you really need the meter for is…

-Gimlet. If you have 5 meters, you have 5 Gimlets, that’s the only way to see it. If you’re gonna play Hawkeye, you need decent reactions. If your opponent airdashes, Gimlet. If they try to zone, Gimlet. If they call an assist, Gimlet. It’s more about putting the fear into your opponent and cutting off their options, Hawkeye has good matchups against popular anchors for this reason. What’s Doom gonna do that’s not gonna get shot? Nothing.

Just some random stuff off the top of my head, hope it helps.

Its really hard to do effectively(and pretty unsafe I think as well as not the most efficient use of his abilities I’m sure) but I don’t see many people hit-confirming off of Hawkeye’s explosion arrow. If you’re close enough you just QCB+H M and you got yourself a full combo especially if its XF Lvl 3. I discovered it completely by random and it always puts a smile on my face when people that have never seen it before see it in action.

Hey guys, somebody please tell me what the most damaging Hawkeye SOLO non xfactor bnb combo is for midscreen? and for corner? Im new to Hawkeye and i know you guys already have posted it before most likely but it takes forever to look through the pages lol
