Whoa! You people roll the stick from towards to down/towards!? Shocking. How come no one ever told me these high level strats?
Actually, I always go towards, neutral, down, down/towards. That goes for both American and Jap sticks alike. I personally still feel that American sticks are better for fireballs and DPs. Three chief reasons being that:
The radius (from neutral state to the edge of the gate) seems shorter for American sticks.
American springs are generally stiffer, so I feel that they pop to neutral quicker than Jap sticks. This runs contrary to Elias’ claims, but I feel it to be the case.
The circular/octagonal gates have smoother motion
The first 2 points alone make American sticks preferable for DPs, since it means that the input takes less time to complete. At least, that’s my opinion.
As those who have played me can attest, I can DP and FB on Jap sticks just fine as well. In fact, I generally played ST on a T5 stick. But that’s just because I need the corners should I happen to pick a charge character. Having slower DP inputs is also a blessing for ST, since you do have to input hella slow–like Elias pointed out. ST’s also slow enough of a game where you don’t have to respond with 2 frames when you see an opening. You’re generally given 60 frames or more to decide what to do.
I have been wishing my spring in my agetec was stiffer, because sometimes I try doing cr. jab x 3, b+Jab, and I get cr. jab x4, because the spring isn’t very stiff.
I just got home and I don’t have my phone… what is the latest you will be playing games tonight, because it’s 6 now, if 8 is the latest I’ll just stay home unless you’re open for much later. Anyways peace.
I thought I was gonna go skiing this weekend but plans fell through. Would people be up for ST / 360 either saturday afternoon/eve or sunday afternoon/eve? If so, post which you prefer
When I went from Xbox/Saturn pad to stick (japanese, obviously), I had problems figuring out how to dragon punch for a while… I used to roll from forward to down, back to forward, too, but once I thought about the actual DP motion and the square gate corners - I put two and two together. There had to be a reason japanese can DP so perfectly!
I’m better at DPing on the right hand side. We should have some tea hawk mirrors on the wrong sides and practice. You left handed?
