If you guys played around the the DC version of Grand Master Challenge some more tonight, did you decide on what platform/settings/speed to use for Friday’s tournament? Nate, you’re the organizer for ST, so I guess you have the final say in the matter. You should announce your decision in either the season two or Preppy’s thread. Or, we could leave it for a game time decision.
I’ve over eaten. As usual. I can do nothing but sit still and convert the calories into fat until I can move again. My arms feel heavy. I would play some games, but that requires too much exertion.
I had a lot of fun tonight, guys. I really wasn’t feeling like I was playing at my best though. No complaints about the stick or the buttons, they worked fine, I just couldn’t seem to really be intelligent and aggressive at the same time, and I also kept falling into predictable patterns.
Hopefully I can have a solid tourney showing on friday, cus quiet as it’s kept I really care about my overall ST ranking.
Very good games everyone. Itazan’s Vega is so cheap and so is his Ryu. I probably only beat him like two or three times all night. Yosuke’s Chun Li was buff as usual, this upcoming ST tourney should be really dope. I’m really looking forward to it.
This session was scary. While my skill level on japanese sticks depreciates to that of a retarded child, I find myself impressed with our progress. Despite Itazan and Yosuke being VF5 players, they are amazing. I feel bad none of us can play the game with them.
Yes you can! At gameworks, preppys house, or when the 360 version is released! lol no but seriously, VF scene is always starving for new players here in the USA.
@ST: If I recall, Itazan put Alex Wolfe in losers at EVO. Though it was CCC2 and you guys have already seen Itazan’s Vega, Itazan and Yosuke are strong in most of the games we play.
I talked to Itazan when we all had Thai food dinner with other Socal VF players and asked him about Alex Wolfe and he very humbly said “I was very lucky.” Itazan and Yosuke are really cool dudes, and really amazing at VF.
It’s pretty humbling to get tooled so hard when ST is the only game I play in tourneys by guys for whom ST isn’t even their main game. It’s also REALLY cool to learn new shit just by watching a different style.
Also as soon as I can get my Agetec modded with Sanwa parts (I finished my roommates, I just need the Gwop for it) I am definitely going to buckle down and learn Ryu and Ken. I like Balrog a lot, but I even practiced with Ryu a lot and didn’t tell anybody… I just couldn’t combo well enough cus I didn’t have a legit JPN stick to practice on, but as soon as my equipment is on point I’ll be picking up the shotos and making them my mains most likely. Ryu is too strong.
It is really funny to just hang out with you guys, sometimes I take myself out of the game rotation just to talk about shit.
I really want to but I am mad tired. I was drinking last night, then at around 6am I got to Yosuke’s to drop off the Japanese players, then I slept in my car for a couple hours until I drove Itazan to the post office to mail a box home, dropped Shota off at the bus stop, and then drove Itazan to the airport… then drove my roommate to get his car alignment adjusted, Trader Joe’s… then passed the fuck out after FINALLY watching my downloaded TUF episode 1. Which was decent.
I’m not really dissapointed because I played decently last night, I do intend to get back to practicing a lot more so that I can do better again and at least place next time though. Regardless of not doing well in poker and ST, I had a really good time, everyone there is all cool, and surprisingly Gray Fox is an alright guy in person.
Wait, you drove them back, and they forced you to sleep in your car? They wouldn’t even let you pass out under their roof where it was warm and secure? That’s hilarious. As though they said, “Wait here so that you can chauffeur us around in another 3 hours. But don’t step inside, not even to pee.” Only, with a Japanese accents.:china:
