Is there anyway to get into a training mode via an emulator?

download pugsy’s cheats for mame and turn on players 2’s infinte health code and player 1’s infinite meter. Closest you are gonna get.

Hmm when I enter inifinite energy, there’s no hitstun 50% of the time for player 2… is this normal?

IIRC ST used a invincibility-esqe code for infinite health so that’s the best you can get for that particular game. Every other game works like normal though

How 'bout using an emulator that shows inputs? See the [media=youtube]zfhRh-xS32E[/media] for an example of what I’m talking about. It seems like it could be very useful for learning the more complicated motions. If wanna give it a go, do the following stuff…

  1. Download HK2v9. It took me almost forever to find a place that still offers this for download.

  2. It’s compressed in .rar format, so you’ll need a program like WinRAR or 7-zip to unzip it.

  3. Run the installation program and run the program once. It’ll create a bunch of extra subdirectories for itself. Close program, copy game roms into the newly-created /roms folder. Restart program, click “available” on left. (Thanks to the “awesome” background, you can hardly read the text… it’s the 2nd one from the top.) View–> Refresh, games should appear. Rightclick ST game rom, set up bare-bones settings (enable joystick input, etc.)

  4. When running the game, press the Scroll Lock to toggle player input on or off. The display disappears after a moment of not doing anything, and I wish I could increase the time before it disappears, but I don’t know of a way. So for now, if I want extra time to look at my inputs, I just keep tapping forward every half-second or so to keep them from disappearing.

  5. Supplement your practice with savestates: Shift-F7 and then a number saves to that number’s slot. F7 and then a number loads that number’s slot. I guess if you wanted to try cheat programs for infinite health, etc. you could try that too, although I know nothing about them.
