Is it possible to show matches on the big screen if they’re on arcade?
Put in on PC.
I know with supernova its possible, for an actual arcade… I think so. I know I recall seeing back in the day an arcade cab with MK2 playing and ontop of the cab another monitor showing whats going on in the game. So it should be possible.
I’d like to know what exactly the purpose of this thread was then. Because honestly nobody was arguing with you at all that ST has differences on console, and so does MvC2. Wasn’t it ME who was making a HUGE stink about the all-console EVO a few years ago? I was the one that made a huge deal out of it for the differences, and I was called a LOT of things for it, including stupid, unwilling to be open to change, unrealistic, and a dreamer. The same problem remains that when you want to have games like ST and MvC2 on arcade, you have to 1. find enough game boards and 2. find enough working cabs that people are willing to donate. That’s even leaving out the problem and cost of having to replace ALL of the controls before the tournament so that everything is consistent on every cab.
Watson, you may not have said in this thread that you wanted to play me, but in #capcom on IRC the other day you blatantly said you’d like to play me, I said ok let’s go for $20, and you said great! So obviously there are some bad feelings here, or at least a bad taste in your mouth from PS1 ST. Like I said, I AND EVERYONE ELSE AGREES that we’d love to have all games on arcade, but the fact of the matter is that after doing it that way for years, tournaments have grown too large for that to be practical anymore. If that means that we have to settle for non-perfect console versions, then so be it. And if that means that OG players are going to stop coming to tournaments because they can’t stand the differences…that will be up to their discrecion.
I’m just seriously trying to find a real purpose for this thread. The fact that the PS1 version of ST is imperfect is certainly no epiphany to anyone, especially those who played at EVO this year. I think we all need to move on and find a better alternative…such as emulated ST on Xbox, with real game boards being present so it’s not copyright infringement, as Seth has suggested. I think we should get to work on this right away to see how that holds up, and if the Xbox can handle it. If not, we need to find something, or else we need to settle for PS1 and warn EVERYONE ahead of time so we can all practice and learn the differences.
But besides that, there’s really no need to go on. This thread seems like a way to vent and complain about a version of ST that everybody hates anyway, so what’s the point? I tried to have some fun and throw some fuel onto the fire for next EVO, but neither you or Soo want to participate. It was nothing personal or serious, just something to get some hype going for next year…but I guess you guys don’t know how to have fun any more or something…we have grudge matches on the EC all the time and nobody says “OOOH WE DONT HATE EACH OTHER SO WE CANT DO IT!”
Let me be the first one to official say it: FUCK PS1 ST, it is a steaming pile of crap that has too many differences from arcade. But at the same time, let me say BOO and THUMBS DOWN to people still complaining about it. It happened, it’s over, and hopefully we’ll have a better alternative next year. Let’s move on and start planning events for next EVO instead of dwelling on the slow-loading past.
Superguns are probably a sound alternative. Unlike playing on a “REAL ARCADE CAB,” it allows for some customization. Albeit not a lot, but some nonetheless.
Either way, I’m making sure my Snes pad will be Supergun compliant…and people thought a Snes PS2 pad was insane 
at evo 06 either ST be played on ARC(on xbox emu)or dont waste ppl time & just boot ST from the lineup!

You dont care about games at all to the point where there is a hole in 8734, games obviously mean nothing to you.
I for one am guilty for saying that the PS1 version of ST was possibly the best version available for console.
I still do, but that doesn’t mean that it’s arcade perfect… just saying that it’s the lesser of all the evils.
Now that the tournament is over I am hearing that there are alot more problems than I originally thought. Stuff about animations, priorities, inputs…
The important thing is NOW WE KNOW. And more importantly, what is going to be done about it.
I vote that Cigarbob builds a set of supergun cabs(like the ones he had at EVO this year) and run arcade boards. Run it with Happ Comp sticks, and have one with Japanese Sticks(we can get the hardware to link 2 screens and 2 sets of controls incase the japanese play).
DC ST is screwed. Saturn ST is screwed. PS1 ST is screwed. The only way to do it right is to go with arcade hardware.
I’d be pretty pissed off too if I played and found out during play that certain things just don’t work like they are supposed to.
I don’t think Mike is making excuses. PS1 SSF2 Turbo isn’t a good translation of the arcade game. We thought it was close to being perfect but we were wrong.
I sure hope this problem is resolved for next years tournament.

but should you really be pissed if you found out during play that it doesnt work? isnt that your job to figure out when it was announced that PS1 ST would be used?

I got one thing to say in all this, I didn’t lose to ANY NEW SKOOL FOOLIOS!!! The only new school that gets any credit in my opinion is AfroLegends, cause he came correct with a NEW char everyone in the world was afriad to play but considered top tier. So props on your DJ AfroLegends. Here is a challenge to all you new skool bastards tryin to come up, try learnin a real character like Dhalsim, or Ryu or guile for that matter. You fools comin up with chaacters like Vega and Chun, those characters take 2 seconds to learn and are a joke to master. I’ll givce props to you new skoolers when you bring something REAL to the table. I was pretty dissappointed with DSP droppin his Blanka. You might of gotten 3rd if you stayed true to your char. NKI, your chun-li is basically a 2k2 version of Nuk’s chun and you still can’t properly use the charge super =P
Anyway, enough of the hate and back to the real. If they change the way they run pools, and cigarbob agrees to make a few more cabinets for evo…then the only option for ST is arcade. ST is fast, and my way of running pools is, do it by games and run the first 25 pools so EVERYONE knows they have to be there. Also nobody will have to wait for someone finishing another pool cause it will go 1 game at a time. Much faster, much cleaner.

What if I don’t have a copy of the game(it is out of print)?
For instance, if a tournament is announced that a SF2 Hyper Fighting tourney is going to take place but it’s going to be played on JAPANESE boards…I enter and BAM, there are some things that are different(and there are) that cost me a match. Doesn’t seem right at all.
Sure to the common player these differences may seem minor, but in the heat of a high level match where the slightest error can cost you the game I think the differences can be devastating.
All I am saying is that nobody has any room to talk if you’re owning someone on an imperfect version of ST.
I own people all day on SNES Super SF2 but I am sure the results would be different if we were playing on an arcade board.
